In Destiny 2, there is a hint that the Iron Banner will return.
Friends of PvP can look forward to a return of the regular Crucible events: It is already known that there will be Trials in Destiny 2 – even though they are supposed to return in a revised form and only shortly after the launch.
Moreover, there are concrete hints that the Guardians will not have to do without the Iron Banner, the monthly PvP event, in the future. Because in a trailer for Destiny 2, a Guardian clearly wears Iron Banner armor.

The Iron Banner symbols are indeed hard to recognize and easy to overlook, especially in video material with low resolution; however, these are undoubtedly the symbols of the “Iron Banner”:
On the chest piece of the Hunter, the tree can be seen together with a wolf’s head. Trees are also depicted on the gauntlets and leg armor. The armor is in gold-red colors and looks quite elegant. The helmet does not have any special symbols, but fits the design of the other armor pieces.
Interesting: The Hunter holds a katana in hand. We have already dealt with the new swords in Destiny 2 here. Since this Guardian wears a complete Iron Banner set, it could be that the katana is part of the new Iron Banner weapons – an Iron Banner sword. Some Guardians suspect that the new Iron Banner items might come in a samurai style – the katana and the gold-red colors suggest at least that.
In short: In Destiny 2, there will be armor pieces with Iron Banner symbols. This suggests that the Iron Banner is returning. However, there is still no official confirmation.
In what form will the Iron Banner return?
Nothing is known about that yet.
We know that in Destiny 2 all PvP game modes are played in 4v4 – including the Trials. The Iron Banner will likely not be an exception. In other words, it will be reduced from 12 to 8 Guardians.
Lord Saladin already transferred his position as Iron Banner overseer to Lord Efrideet with “Rise of Iron”. Who will be responsible for this event in Destiny 2, which has existed since the beta of Destiny, can only be speculated about.
