In Destiny 2 there are new hints about the raid content in Curse of Osiris. What is Bungie teasing?
A few days ago, the first expansion “Curse of Osiris” was announced, which according to the Activision blog, in addition to a new story, new locations, new characters, another social space, new strikes, and new open-world activities, will also deliver a new raid content.
What Activision means by “raid content” was not elaborated upon. We speculated that it could be
- a completely new raid,
- new content in the Leviathan raid,
- a return of an old, revamped raid
- or raid-like content, something like the Prison of Elders,
that it could be.
In the meantime, new hints have come to light.
From raid content to raid activity
As reported by Eurogamer, Bungie – not just Activision – also spoke about this raid content at “Paris Games Week”. However, Bungie used the term “raid activity”.
When asked if this meant a completely new raid, Bungie: “A new raid activity.”
This statement leads to the conclusion:
- It is highly likely that no completely new raid will be released. If the developers resist using the term “new raid”, then it seems that no new raid is coming. Because a new expansion could be excellently marketed with “a brand new raid is coming!”
- The assumption that new content could come in the Leviathan raid can probably be discarded. Bungie speaks of a new “activity” – that wouldn’t fit if they were just adding new content to the raid.

The return of an old raid is not ruled out. The Glass Vault is highly favored, as Osiris fights the Vex in the reveal trailer of “Curse of Osiris”. We might return there in some form in the expansion – but the new raid activity probably will not be the return of the Vault.
Because the latest hints indicate that this raid activity will take place on Mercury.
Raid activity on Mercury and for 6 Guardians
According to the PlayStation blog, the raid activity is on Mercury. This directly rules out the return of old raids.
This information fits with an image that Bungie published in the last “This Week at Bungie”: This image is supposed to show the nice emblems that the “community mentors” received. These are users who often shared help articles or official Bungie statements in the forums, providing important information to fellow Guardians.
However, the exciting thing about this image is not the emblems, but: In the background, Mercury is visible and there are six people in the fireteam. In Destiny 2, there is only one activity that requires a fireteam of 6 Guardians: The raid.
Since Bungie has often hidden hints in “This Week at Bungie” in the past, the implication is strong: This new raid activity is on Mercury and will be played in a fireteam of 6 Guardians.
Therefore, in conclusion: It is most likely that the raid activity refers to raid-like content, similar to the Prison of Elders. This Infinity Forest on Mercury, which is called “Infinite Forest” in English, could be an arena that is randomly generated, creating a new player experience each time. In the trailer, you can see Vex platforms that respawn:
In the arena, you fight against the Vex. And unlike the Prison, where you fought with three, this Infinity Forest could be an activity for 6 players.
Important: None of this is confirmed yet. We are just gathering the information that can be found online and correlating it.
By the way: The first three images in this article (including the title image) are official press images, which probably show this PvE arena, the Infinity Forest.
Curse of Osiris will be released on December 5, 2017, on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
