The physical version of the Shadowkeep Collector’s Edition for Destiny 2 is currently no longer available. Those who still want to secure a copy at the launch of the major autumn expansion now have the chance to do so – through a crazy challenge from Bungie.
This is the challenge: A few days ago, Bungie launched a challenge through which players can secure a special physical version of the upcoming autumn expansion Shadowkeep for Destiny 2.
In a pure fun post, the Redditor Boobel initially requested that Shadowkeep be purchasable with the resource Baryon Stem, which is available in the Dreaming City from the Forsaken expansion.
Promptly, the community manager Cozmo23 responded and announced: The first Guardian who manages to collect 100,000 units of this resource on their account will receive a Destiny 2: Shadowkeep Collector’s Edition for free.
How can you participate? Those who wish to take on this challenge should “simply” collect 100,000x Baryon Stem and then post it in the corresponding Reddit thread. Cozmo will then verify it accordingly and name the winner.
This is the reward for the challenge: The special thing about the reward: the physical Collector’s Edition of Shadowkeep is already out of stock, meaning it is currently no longer available for pre-order – and that on all platforms.
Whether there will be any more copies available for purchase is still unknown. So it could very well be the only opportunity to get this special edition.
The Destiny 2: Shadowkeep Collector’s Edition costs 159€ and includes
- All contents of the Standard and Digital Deluxe Editions
- A code for the Digital Deluxe Edition
- Digital soundtrack for Shadowkeep
- Physical goodies, including a Hive Cryptoglyph replica, a Luna Mission Container made of metal, and two journals with lore and designs
How difficult is the challenge? From a gameplay perspective, the challenge is not really demanding, but it involves a monstrous grind.
Some users have already conducted research and repeatedly run through the Lost Sector Aphel’s Rest to collect as much Baryon Stem as possible and calculate how much time they need for the 100,000.
The result: Even if one were to use this effective farming method, they would have to grind this Lost Sector for about a month, 8 – 12 hours a day, to reach the required amount before release.
All materials would take up all 50 inventory slots of a character as well as 50 material slots in the vault. Additionally, fans emphasized that in the game it is technically not possible to reach 100,000 units; the absolute maximum is 99,900.
Cozmo then responded again and explained that Bungie would accept this amount as the new target.
Many fans are now curious to see if a Guardian will actually take on this mammoth collecting task and successfully complete it.
