In Destiny 2 many weapons and items in Season 18 are currently being disabled due to bugs. And now your power level progress is even affected. To ensure you don’t have any disadvantages until Bungie can fix the issues, we’ll tell you what to watch out for.
What kinds of bugs are currently piling up in Destiny 2? After the launch of the new Season 18, players have reported various issues with weapons and different Exotics.
- Earlier this week, reports piled up that an Exotic armor had unintended synergies, allowing Guardians to recharge their Super at will.
- The resilience in Arc 3.0 also seems to be calculated incorrectly, making Guardians unable to withstand many hits and weaker when playing Arc.
- Bungie also had to disable the €100 pre-order item in dungeons and raids because there were issues related to it as well.
- And heavy grenade launchers were far too strong in Season 18 after a buff, which forced Bungie to disable many items of this weapon type for the time being.
Blocked items hinder your power level progress: Especially the many blocked weapons and armor are currently a big problem. They are not only blocked, but they also prevent your progress in leveling up.

On one hand, if you still have blocked items equipped, they can mess up your power level. There were reports from Guardians who suddenly had a meager 1300 instead of their regular power level of 1580.
This also happened to player Carfrito, who described on reddit how surprised he was.
[…] I feel like a noob, I just returned after the [Witch-Queen] launch and had a [grenade launcher] equipped. I went into Gambit and thought: “Oh, I guess they removed heavy weapons from Gambit,” before realizing there was still heavy ammo on the field and I was really confused. I also wondered why my power level wasn’t increasing at all.

However, this error can be quickly fixed by equipping an item that is not blocked.
The bigger problem is that the blocked items can still drop randomly as high-tier loot. Normally, this would count towards your power level. But because the items are currently blocked, that simply does not happen.
- You can have the items in your inventory, but the game no longer counts them towards your maximum possible power level.
- The consequence is that Engrams, such as those from the season pass or the high-tier drop from the clan vendor, give you less progress than you are actually entitled to.
In a video on Twitter, player Cheese-Forever documented the problem:
The solution hurts for some items: To ensure you don’t lose anything, there is currently only one option: You must infuse the blocked item and must not keep it. Only then can you ensure that your Engrams can once again be obtained with the maximum possible power level.
This, however, particularly hurts if it should be, for example, a grenade launcher God roll. You would then have to sacrifice it if your power level is more valuable to you.
When can you level normally again?

Bungie has not yet announced a date: So far, nothing is known about when Bungie plans to reactivate the items and thereby also end this problem.
Players had hoped for a fix for this Tuesday. However, the developer has only announced a background maintenance, which will not include downtime. However, it is also not excluded that the background maintenance could still bring a solution.
Otherwise, players must wait until Bungie resolves the initial difficulties of Season 18. We will keep you updated on this issue.
What do you think about the bug? Have you noticed it too? And did you also have to sacrifice a good roll for your power level? How would you decide if you find yourself in this situation? Feel free to share it with us in the comments.
