Only 2 days after the launch of Beyond Light, Destiny 2 disables a popular exotic weapon. Apparently, the reason is a damage bug in PvP.
Recently, the new expansion Beyond Light and the new Season 12, the Season of the Hunt have launched in Destiny 2. These bring a variety of new content, but apparently, they have also introduced some problems. Bungie has now been forced to disable an exotic weapon.
This is the weapon in question: The exotic grenade launcher Witherhoard is affected by the ban. It was introduced with Season 11 and quickly became one of the most popular exotics among many players due to its spreading “damage over time” effect. Many have also started the new expansion with it.
Witherhoard Disabled – But Why?
This is what Bungie says about the deactivation: Bungie does not specify exactly what the problem with this weapon exotic is. In a tweet from the Help account, it merely states that they have disabled Witherhoard due to a problem until further notice.
What is the reason now? Even though Bungie does not elaborate on the problem with the weapon, the exotic has apparently been removed to maintain balance in the Crucible, that is, in PvP. There are several reports from players who have mentioned a damage bug with Witherhoard in PvP following Update 3.0.0.1.

The grenades from Witherhoard leave a kind of decay pool, poisoning an area. If opponents are in this pool, they take damage over time. However, due to the bug, the effect persisted even after leaving the pool. This resulted in one-hit kills in PvP if an opponent had been in the pool at least once. It is unclear whether this problem also affected PvE.
