In Destiny 2 the Tractor Cannon is “the other shotgun”. What makes this Exotic special, how does it perform in PvP and PvE? Now you can purchase the weapon.
On January 19, 2018, Xur brought a weapon for the first time that every Guardian should have played with: The Tractor Cannon! For 29 Legendary Shards, you can now buy it – until January 23 at 6 PM.
Already in early gameplay footage that appeared in the months before the launch of Destiny 2, the “Tractor Cannon” was visible. At that time, people wondered what kind of weapon this was. It knocked multiple enemies back with a single shot and looked like a misshapen piece of a spaceship that was left over after assembly.
Meanwhile, we know: It is a shotgun – a somewhat different shotgun with a special look and perk.
How to Get the Tractor Cannon – How You Can Obtain This Exotic
There are several possible locations for the Tractor Cannon:
What makes the Tractor Cannon stand out in Destiny 2?
The Tractor Cannon is an exotic shotgun that is used in the power slot. It deals Void damage.
The impact power is 65 – which is identical to the impact power of a “Hawthorne’s Field-Forged Shotgun”. The rate of fire, however, is individual and lies at 84 instead of 90 like the other shotguns of this archetype.
Otherwise, the stability of the Tractor Cannon is excellent. The reload speed and range are poor. Here are the stats:
Here are the special perks:
Repulsor Force: The weapon fires a strong impulse that knocks enemies back.
The Scientific Method: Dealing damage to an enemy briefly increases the speed and handling.
Is the Tractor Cannon Worth It in PvE and PvP?
The Repulsor Force perk allows for a unique playstyle in Destiny 2. Because the Tractor Cannon does not fire pellets like other shotguns, it instead fires an impulse that pushes enemies back a few meters:
In PvE, the Tractor Cannon shines especially against enemy hordes, as it can push multiple enemies back or directly kill them at once. One can attribute crowd control capabilities to it. However, against thick bosses, the weapon looks poor. These cannot be knocked back by the Tractor Cannon. Additionally, the damage output is too low.
In PvP, you can use the impulse to knock opponents off the map. The downside is, however, that it does not guarantee one-hit kills like other shotguns. These are only possible from very close range. If you push opponents against a wall, you can also achieve direct kills.

The biggest advantages in PvP are probably that it provides surprise moments and fun for the user and can simply push enemies running at you away.
However, the Tractor Cannon is really only useful from very short distances. If the enemies are only a few meters away, the power of the Tractor Cannon dissipates. Especially in high-level content, one should avoid standing directly next to enemies, making the Tractor Cannon definitely only seen as a fun weapon in PvE. It is not a top-tier weapon; there are better alternatives, especially in the form of rocket launchers that are also useful at range.
Conclusion: If you do not have the Tractor Cannon yet, do not hesitate and grab it from Xur now. Cool weapon with cool design, but not a must-have weapon.
And: Those who have been pushed away by Taken Phalanx enemies in their Guardian career will finally be able to take revenge with this weapon!
