Official information regarding the second DLC for Destiny 2 is still scarce. Only a few details are known so far. With the current update 1.1.3, another hint regarding DLC II may have come to light.
Very little is known about the second DLC for Bungie’s latest title. So far, only May 2018 is officially established as the release timeframe.
The story could revolve around a Warmind and a woman named Ana Bray – this can be inferred from the official DLC graphic (see title image). According to leaks, the expansion could also be called “Gods of Mars” and take Guardians to Mars, although this has not been confirmed by Bungie.
With the February update 1.1.3, a lot of fresh content has now entered the databases of Destiny 2 – including possibly a new hint for the second DLC.
Does an emblem provide further hints regarding the second DLC?
As part of the February update, among other things, a number of new emblems were introduced to the game. In the databases, another badge was found, which is currently not in the game and is causing great speculation: because it could be a hint regarding the second DLC.
What is the significance of this emblem?
When examining the graphic for this emblem, the symbol of a Warmind clearly stands out. This is quite interesting, as in the upcoming second DLC, the story is said to revolve around a Warmind. This is also supported by the DLC image teased by Bungie featuring a woman and a Warmind bunker. Thus, this emblem reinforces the previous hints regarding possible DLC content.
Besides the Warmind symbol, the emblem also features the word “Carrhae”. If one goes back a bit and dives deeper into the lore of Destiny 1, one will find that the designation Carrhae is also closely related to a Warmind.
Carrhae is the name of an emergency protocol that the Warmind Rasputin known from Destiny 1 can initiate to take over the entire defense of the solar system in case of danger. There are a total of 3 Carrhae protocols:
- Carrhae: an emergency that Rasputin can declare to take over the entire defense of the solar system.
- Carrhae Black: a non-specified emergency that Rasputin can impose.
- Carrhae White: an emergency that Rasputin can declare when the solar system is threatened by an external enemy.
Considering that Destiny 2 ended with a scene where a dark power was awakened by the Light of the Traveler and is evidently on its way to Earth, these protocols could hold special significance in a potential story expansion.
How can you obtain the mysterious emblem?
Immediately after the discovery of this emblem graphic, the community began to speculate on how this emblem could be obtained.
Since Chris Barret from Bungie recently announced that they want to incorporate more secrets into the game – similar to what was the case in Destiny 1 – speculations arose whether the emblem could possibly be available through an event leading to the story of the second DLC or perhaps simply through the purchase of the upcoming expansion.
Notably, this emblem was the only new badge with common quality. All other new emblems in the databases are legendary. Common emblems are usually obtained only through codes from promotional actions or through other activities outside the actual game, such as participating in the beta, achievements in Destiny 1, or for the Video of the Week.
Recently, Guardians then made a find that put an end to the speculations. The emblem will be available as a included download code for a merchandising item (link to the product) in the form of a Destiny ghost, which will be available at the end of March 2018.
Thus, this emblem is not a hint for an upcoming in-game event.
