Destiny 2 is a shooter that also has a lot to offer musically. For a long time, Bungie has entertained its Guardians not only with cool gunplay but also with emotional music. Now a developer has revealed another cool musical weapon secret that no Guardian has discovered since 2020. MeinMMO tells you what it is and lets you hear how it sounds.
Here’s why it’s worth listening closely: In Destiny 2, music is very different from most games. Bungie’s composers often try out new things musically with every DLC release.
Since 2014, music in the Destiny universe not only underlines what Guardians do in-game. It is also a very emotional melody of the entire story, in order to express particularly strong moments from Destiny’s history more compellingly.
The number of players who still have music from Destiny 1 and 2 in their personal playlists and listen to it repeatedly shows how well this resonates.
We can specifically recommend the following songs from Destiny’s history:
- The intro “Untold Legends” from the beginnings of Destiny was composed among others by Michael Salvatori and ex-Beatle Paul McCartney and gave the first Guardians goosebumps.
- When Destiny 2 arrived in 2014, a melody that is still relevant today prepared the Guardians for the new era and their temporarily light-less existence.
- For the raid “Deep Stone Crypt,” many were touched by the sad song “Lullaby” regarding the fate of the Exos.
- Lastly, “Journey” will certainly be one of the magnificent Destiny songs that Guardians will tune into again when the great Light and Darkness saga ends in Destiny 2.
In 2022, Bungie continued this captivating music tradition. At the start of the “The Witch Queen” DLC in February 2022, particularly the teaser song “Cruel World” by Phantogram garnered a lot of attention and created another Destiny earworm.

The sound of Destiny is loved by many and is often recognizable. This is why Guardians were surprised when another musical yet old secret from the Destiny universe was revealed.
What secret has become known now? On November 18, Bungie’s senior sound designer Juan Pablo Uribe announced via Twitter that a specific exotic weapon can play the music of a Destiny 2 DLC. He also added: “You will know it when you hear it.”
The weapon in question is specifically the 2020 released auto rifle “Fallen’s Image” in Season 11, which plays the well-known base melody from the DLC “Beyond Light”.
How can the sound be triggered? First, you need to be in possession of the weapon. Since the former exo quest is no longer available, you can conveniently acquire the auto rifle at the “Monument to Lost Lights” in the Tower.
When you fire a sustained beam from the exotic auto rifle “Fallen’s Image,” there is a 1 in 10 chance that you can hear the subtle additional melody from the shooting sound.
YouTuber Luckyy 10P wanted to know for sure, immediately made a video with a shooting test, and was surprised by what he heard. Those who listen closely can recognize the signature tones of the “Beyond Light” intro in the shooting progression of the weapon.
We recommend: First listen to this “Beyond Light” intro again, then it will definitely be easier to recognize the sound.
Upon inquiry, Juan Pablo Uribe further explained that when this exo weapon was released a season before “Beyond Light” in July 2020, it was the first time that a musical DLC theme was secretly implemented in Destiny 2 as a teaser for what was to come.
Players will therefore no longer need to pay attention only to texts or hidden places to catch small teasers of the future. They will now also need to listen carefully if they want to find hidden references from Bungie.
What do you think about this musical secret? Would you have come up with it, or do you not listen closely to your weapons? Feel free to leave us your comment on this topic here on MeinMMO and tell us what your favorite Destiny song is.
The new melody secret was certainly a curious and unique surprise. However, in Destiny 2, there are many other secrets with which you can also show off in front of your fireteam:
