Bungie has quickly disabled another armor Exotic from Season 10 of Destiny 2, upsetting many Guardians. What is the reason for this action?
About this Exotic: As Bungie announced on March 27 shortly after the start of the weekly Trials, the Warlock armor Exotic Felwinter’s Helm has been disabled until further notice.
This marks the second of three new armor Exotics temporarily removed from the game, which debuted in Season 10 of Destiny 2. Just before the start of the Trials, the exotic Hunter chest piece Raiju’s Harness was also disabled and has yet to be used since then.
What is the reason for the deactivation? The reason for this action was also a significant glitch, similar to the Hunter Exotic, which was recently discovered by the community. It was possible to trigger the exotic effect with this helm and a little effort with every kill – in both PvE and PvP.
This was not intended. Normally, the effect is only triggered by kills with charged melee or through finisher kills.
Then Arc, Solar, or Void melee kills create an energy burst that weakens nearby enemies. Finisher kills and kills against more powerful enemies also increase the radius of the burst and extend the weakening debuff.
This was possible with every kill under certain circumstances.
When will there be a solution? This is currently unknown. The corresponding tweet only states that the helm will remain disabled until a fix can be released at a later date.
However, on Tuesday, March 31, the hotfix 2.8.0.2 for Destiny 2 will be released. Among other things, the already disabled exotic Hunter chest piece Raiju’s Harness is expected to be fixed and made available again.
Whether Bungie will also manage to sort out the now disabled Warlock helm by then remains to be seen, but it is certainly possible. However, one should keep in mind that the developers are currently working from home, which could lead to delays.
What do the players say? Although this is not the first deactivation of an Exotic, in the past Guardians joked about it and took it with humor, many are now noticeably upset.
Many players generally understand such a step – even in this case. However, these actions have been increasing lately – and that is precisely what frustrates many. After all, the deactivation of Exotics should really be a last resort. But it is now happening far too frequently.
Already in Season 10, this is the second of three new armor Exotics that has now been disabled and is not available to Guardians for the time being. This is anything but a satisfactory state, as the general sentiment in numerous threads on Reddit suggests.
And in the past three seasons, there have repeatedly been such problems. Some are wondering whether Bungie still tests new things intensively or if they are just running the game on low flame.
Furthermore, it is criticized that Bungie often takes a long time to fix Exotics and that they apparently do not really learn from past mistakes and experiences. Many glitches related to Exotics are triggered in a pretty similar manner at first glance – just with different items.
