Since Destiny 2 became available on PC, eager players have been sifting through the files for secrets. And they found some!
Destiny 2 is now also available for PC. Unlike the console versions, the game files on PC are much easier to access and analyze. The Redditor TheEcumene has sifted through 26,000 audio files to find hidden clues about upcoming content.
The Redditor warns that he cannot guarantee that these audio files will ever make it into the final game. It is quite possible that among the 26,000 files are some that were recorded but do not have to serve a function in the game.

New Locations in Destiny 2?
TheEcumene has noted some highlights from the thousands of audio files and made them available to the community. He reports on text lines regarding the following new locations:
- Ganymede – Ganymede is the largest moon in our solar system and orbits Jupiter. Ganymede is an ice moon.
- Thy Myriad – This is also said to be a new location. The word “myriad” is ancient Greek and means “ten thousand.” Is it a home world of a hostile race? The location has already appeared in a ghost perk, so it is not completely new.
- Phobos – The larger of the two Martian moons, Phobos and Deimos. The audio files also suggest that this location is a patrol zone.
- Mercury – The location is more or less confirmed for the first DLC. The audio files support this.
Are We Returning to the Dreadnaught?
The Dreadnaught was the main location of the Destiny 1 expansion “The Taken King,” where we defeated Oryx, the father of Crota. Some text lines now clearly speak of this location, and that we will likely return there (freely translated):
- “Back to Oryx’s flying tomb then.”
- “Caution is your ally on the Dreadnaught. Do not get lost in its infinite vastness.”
- “The Dreadnaught could not extinguish your light.”
- “We defeated Oryx, but the Dreadnaught still lives. Fulfill your task and fight it!”
- “The War Cult would reward you richly if you plunder the Dreadnaught.”
Especially the last line suggests that the Dreadnaught could be a zone with patrols. Perhaps Eris Morn will also appear and act as a planetary vendor like Devrim Kay in the EDZ?
Hints About Variks and the Reef
In addition to the Dreadnaught, other familiar locations from Destiny 1 might return. There are voice lines about:
- Patrol zones on Venus, Mars, Old Russia
- The Reef and the Prison of Elders are mentioned along with Petra and Variks. However, Bungie has already stated that these are remnants in the code. There are no plans to bring the Prison back.
- The Black Garden and the Glass Throne are mentioned. The data miner speculates that there might be a return trip there.
More Information:
- The SRL is set to return. It brings the character Marcus Ren with it
- There are mentions of events like the Crimson Days and the Festival of the Lost (next year)
- Shiro is said to go to Mercury and Osiris is coming to the Tower
- Additionally, there is a line from Lakshmi-2, in which she speaks of a “House of Dusk,” presumably a Fallen house that worships the Darkness.
The future will show what of this will actually make it into the game. Some lines of code may also just be remnants.
