For Destiny 2, Cross-Save is now live. MeinMMO shows you how to utilize Cross-Save and play your Guardians across different platforms.
What is Cross-Save? Cross-Save is a feature that allows players to select a Destiny 2 account whose progress is shared across all linked platforms.
All content will be carried over – if one owns all the paid content on the linked platforms.
When does Cross-Save go live? Since August 2019, Guardians have been able to take advantage of this useful feature and carry their progress across all platforms.
Which platforms support Cross-Save? Supported are
- PlayStation 4
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X
- Xbox Series S
- Xbox One
- PC (Steam)
- Google Stadia
Activate Cross-Save: Link Your Guardians with PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Steam
Here’s how to sign up for Cross-Save: Log in to this Cross-Save page from Bungie with your existing PlayStation, Xbox Live, or Steam profile.
If you haven’t done this yet, link your game accounts necessary for Cross-Save on Bungie.net. Go to your account, then to settings and “Accounts & Linking”.
Once you are logged in, you can easily start the Cross-Save process by clicking “Get Started” or “Leg Los” (depending on the language) in the center of the screen.
After agreeing to the terms of service, you will see an overview of your Destiny 2 accounts across the various platforms. You may need to log in again with the different accounts. Click on the yellow button just below the respective account for this.
On the next page, select your active characters. Before activating Cross-Save, you will get a final overview of your characters and your game content, and on which platforms these can now be played.
If everything goes well, the Bungie website will inform you that Cross-Save is now activated. With the button in the center of the screen, you can check again which characters are accessible on which platforms and, if necessary, deactivate Cross-Save.
What you should note: You will be guided through the process step by step on the Cross-Save webpage. However, there are some details you should pay attention to, or tips if the process doesn’t work at all for you:
- You must be logged into the necessary accounts on Bungie.net to utilize Cross-Save. If you want to transfer your Xbox Live data to Battle.net/Steam, you must have your Xbox Live and Steam accounts logged in on Bungie.net.
- If you haven’t selected any additional accounts to be linked with Cross-Save, you will receive an error message
- Destiny 2 has completely switched to Steam, support for Battle.net has been discontinued.
- Console players who only want to switch to the other console (Xbox One, Series X/S to PS4 and PS5 or vice versa) and not to the PC do not need to connect their account to Steam, but only to the console accounts
- Characters from other platforms that are not selected for Cross-Save will not be deleted but will be inaccessible as long as Cross-Save is activated
- Cross-Save can be deactivated at any time. If you disable the feature, you must wait 90 days to be able to turn it back on.
- The feature sometimes encounters problems. In the forums, Destiny players regularly share tips and tricks on how it worked for them. In our test, it helped to open the Bungie website in a private tab or incognito window.
- You can link your accounts from any device. Whether you use your home PC or your smartphone for this is up to you.
The next big goal of Destiny 2 is full Cross Play. By 2021, you should be able to save the universe with all Guardians on all platforms together. Even now you can play across generations with your friends on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 – the same goes for Xbox consoles.
