Alongside the Shadowkeep expansion, numerous fans are already looking forward to the new Cross-Save feature of Destiny 2. Now Bungie has finally revealed when it will officially launch. You won’t have to wait long for it.
When does Cross-Save start for Destiny 2? Originally, Cross-Save was supposed to launch in the fall. However, Bungie has expedited this feature and finally announced a concrete launch date.
Guardians who switch to another platform or want to play on multiple platforms have been able to use Cross-Save since August 21.

What is Cross-Save and how does it work? With Cross-Save, it will soon be possible to share a save file across different platforms on which you play Destiny 2. The principle is simple:
- You link your accounts with the Bungie account.
- Next, you select a main account or save with the characters you want to play.
- This progress/save will be shared and available on all other platforms on which you play Destiny 2.
- This will finally make it possible to unify your adventures across multiple platforms. You will then carry your gear, weapons, and loot to other platforms. What you earn on one platform can be used everywhere – no matter where you play.
What you should note about Cross-Save: Free content like Destiny 2: New Light can be used across platforms through Cross-Save without hurdles.
However, paid content such as the Destiny 2 expansions Forsaken or Shadowkeep will also need to be purchased on a new or different platform – even if you already own them on another platform. This is the only way you can access the contents of the expansions there as well.
Cross-Save will save all your gear, your characters, and your items across all platforms – regardless of which expansion you own.
However, there is no way to merge accounts, silver (real money currency), characters, or progress from multiple accounts. The characters, items, triumphs, etc., correspond to your selected save. Characters from other saves cannot be used with everything that belongs to them as long as Cross-Save is active.
Additionally, Cross-Save should not be confused with Cross-Play. Players on Google Stadia, PC, PS4, and Xbox One will not be able to play together. The player searches are still separated for the individual platforms.
