Valentine’s Week is coming to Destiny 2! It brings 2v2 PvP, a new “old map” and various rewards.
Next week, Guardians can expect a major event in the Destiny universe: The Valentine’s Week, “Crimson Days”.
In mid-January, Bungie officially announced that this event will take place in February. They have now published a blog post with all the important information.
Start, End and Access to the Crimson Days
The Valentine’s Week is considered the “Valentine’s Day event” in Destiny 2, where you can test your bonds with your friends. It already took place in February 2016 in Destiny 1, and now it returns to Destiny 2:
- Start: February 13, 2018 (Tuesday)
at 6 PMafter maintenance - End: February 20, 2018 (Tuesday) at 6 PM
- Participation Requirement: You must be at max level (20 without FdO, 25 with FdO)
What Content Does the Valentine’s Week Bring to Destiny 2?
The highlight of the Valentine’s Week is a 2v2 Crucible playlist. For one week, you can prove your teamwork with a friend.
The game mode is 2v2 Conflict, and it is round-based.
The new mode has three features:
- If you are near your ally, your abilities recharge faster.
- If you are too far away from your ally, a waypoint becomes visible for the opponents, revealing your position.
- This will be the first PvP mode in Destiny 2 that deviates from the unified 4v4 format.
If you don’t have a partner for the 2v2 matches, there is normal matchmaking. Bungie will pair you with someone.
New Map: The Valentine’s Week introduces a new map called “The Burnout”. It is an alternate version of the Burning Shrine – a PvP map from Destiny 1. This time, the map is set in the dark Vex future. The sun is obscured:
The Rewards
The best way to earn rewards during the Valentine’s Week is to play the Crucible playlist. This way, you earn Crimson Engrams, which contain most of the rewards.
Additionally, you earn Crimson Engrams by collecting experience points. For each level-up, you get an Illuminated Engram and a Crimson Engram.
Note: Crimson Engrams can only be earned through gameplay. You cannot buy them in Eververse. They are not limited; you can earn as many as you want.
The rewards from Crimson Engrams are obtained using a “Knock-Out List” mechanic. That means the engrams will only start dropping duplicates once you possess all the new gear.
Here you can see the rewards in the new engrams:
They include ornaments, ghost shells, emotes, sparrows, shaders, and teleport effects. In the exotic emote, the Guardian forms a heart.
In addition to the contents of the engrams, there are 5 additional exclusive rewards during the Valentine’s Week:
- Complete the milestone “Welcome to Valentine’s Week” by finishing five Valentine’s Week matches and visiting Lord Shaxx in the Tower to receive the “Fire of the Valentine’s Week” badge and the Tirastrella Ghost Shell. This is the Ghost Shell:
- Finish matches in the Valentine’s Week Crucible playlist for a chance to get the exotic “Unyielding” Sparrow.
- Complete either the Leviathan Raid or the Raid Encounter “World Eater” to obtain the Exotic Ornament “Dieselpunk” for the Wardcliff Coil from the last chest.
- Complete the Nightfall Strike during the Valentine’s Week to snag the Glam Dance Emote.
The Crimson Engrams can only be obtained through gameplay. However, if you want a specific item from the Valentine’s Week, you can head to Eververse. Tess offers some of the items that are otherwise only available in Crimson Engrams for Glimmer. The gear you purchase also counts towards the “Knock-Out List.”
