In Destiny 2 Bungie introduces new ornaments to the Eververse store each season. In the current “Season of the Haunted,” the space shooter has even launched legendary cosmetic items with an exotic synergy special effect on the market. However, the community is not pleased with this at all. MeinMMO tells you why.
What kind of armor ornaments are these? These are the new legendary armor ornaments available in the Eververse store. Each class has an ornament that players can purchase for 600 Silver.

The special thing about these ornaments is that they even get special visual effects when you equip the right Exotic.
- For Hunters: ‘Cloak of Bakris’ corresponding to the Exotic Helm ‘Mask of Bakris’
- For Warlocks: ‘Ring of Battle Harmony’ corresponding to the Exotic Chest ‘Cloak of Battle Harmony’
- For Titans: ‘Sign of the Shooting Star’ corresponding to the Exotic Chest ‘Armor of the Shooting Star’
At first glance, it is clear that Bungie has put a lot of effort into these purchasable ornaments. However, many players agree that these ornaments would have been better placed in the Strike playlist.
Cool ornaments – why not include them in Strikes?
This is exactly what many players in Destiny 2 are asking. Why weren’t these ornaments added to the loot pool of the Strike playlist, so players finally have a reason and a new incentive to play them again? Even YouTuber nKuch commented on the joyful post by Community Manager dmg04 regarding the ornaments:
Don’t get me wrong, this is super cool and I want it… but we need cool stuff like this as Strike-specific/ Nightfall-specific loot. I want to experience that feeling of getting something super cool and rare after farming for a while.
For years, the regular Strikes in Destiny 2 have had no incentive to be played, except for the weekly loot, if a player still wants to level up or for the God roll of a Master weapon from the Nightfall.
The days when you could earn at least one specific item after hard farming in every normal Strike are gone. But why not bring that back? Bungie proves with the newly introduced ornaments in the Eververse store that such loot is indeed possible, and even achievable with special “synergistic” effects for Exotics.
How could Bungie package the loot? Since many things have already been taken from Destiny 1, one could easily use the old system here as well. In Destiny 1, for example, there were the Skeleton Keys and special chests. These chests could be opened with the mentioned keys at the end of a Strike, guaranteeing a specific item drop. However, the keys were so rare that they couldn’t be used endlessly and were only obtainable with a lot of luck.
And even if you don’t want to use this system, it would suffice to simply add the ornaments as very rare loot for each individual Strike. Many Guardians are not picky, but there needs to be a reason to motivate them to continuously engage in these activities.
Destiny 1 had frighteningly many items in the Strike loot: Comparing the available Strike loot in Destiny 1 with that in Destiny 2, one becomes aware of how desperately this PvE mode needs loot.

At first glance, this looks quite solid for Destiny 2, but keep in mind that half of the listed items are in the content vault or not in the Strike rotation in Season 17.
However, the items in Destiny 1 can still be secured at any time, as long as you hit the right Strike in the playlist.
In Destiny 2, that is not the case. You even have to go into the Nightfall to obtain the listed weapons; otherwise, you won’t get anything from the listed Strike loot.
What is also striking is the missing armor that the development team, in this case, prefers to bring to the Eververse store. It is possible that Bungie believes they can fill this gap in PvE with dungeons and raids, but that is just a guess.
Players simply want to adorn themselves with trophies from their battles, and this includes particularly cool items from bosses in Strikes. Destiny 2 now has enough weapons that such synergistic armor ornaments would certainly be a new and special incentive for the guardians.
