Before the launch of Beyond Light, Destiny 2 offers a finale for the ending Season 11 in the form of a closing event. Bungie now officially confirms the date, which is at a really inconvenient time for us.
What is the event about? Tomorrow, on November 10, 2020, a new chapter begins in Destiny 2. With the new expansion Beyond Light and Season 12, the game will start its 4th year.
But before Guardians can dive into the new content tomorrow, Destiny 2 wants to conclude the (still) current Season 11, the Season of Arrival, with a closing event. But when does the season finale actually begin?
Update 03:00 AM: The event has begun and sends you to another area of the Tower.
- Start the trip from the Director / menu, head to the blue crown in the Tower (“The Last City”) and then immediately receive the event emblem “Disaster Protocol”.
Update 01:10 AM: The mini-update to prepare for the season finale is now live. It is 137 MB on PS4 and the servers are back online. However, not much has changed in the Tower, it all looks “normal”.
- The Traveler is glowing a bit so far, and yes, the pyramids are always glowing, and Mercury always looks like it’s about to explode.
- Bungie recommends (via Twitter) that you stay in the queue and know that there are currently server issues.
Many German Guardians will likely only experience the event on YouTube
Update 08:00 PM: Bungie has now officially confirmed that the closing event takes place in the middle of the night on November 10:
When does the closing event of Season 11 actually start?
- It starts at 1:00 AM German time – now you need to load a mini-update as event preparation.
- Between 1:00 AM and 4:00 AM, the finale of Season 11 will take place.
- After that, the Destiny servers will go offline until the reset at 6:00 PM on November 10 – so for 14 hours.
Original message: This is currently the question many Guardians are pondering. Because Bungie does not have much time left. At 4:00 AM German time on 10.11., the servers will already go offline for a 14-hour maintenance and immediately afterward, Beyond Light and the new season of the Hunt will start.
Because Smith has confirmed that they want to conclude Season 11 with a small event. And so far, the season finale has not been live yet.
However, there are indications that the event will become active shortly before the server downtime, which would be unfortunate for all German and European players. Because that would be in the middle of the night – probably starting at 1:00 AM on November 10, so at a really inconvenient time.

This speaks for this late start time: According to many players, the official schedule for the upcoming maintenance gives a hint about the event start.
- Maintenance starts at 0:30 AM German time on 10.11.
- And at 1:00 AM, all Guardians will be thrown out of their activities and will need to download a small update – according to Bungie as preparation for the server downtime.
- After that, it seems like you can log in normally again and still play until 4:00 AM.
That update at 1:00 AM is likely in the eyes of many Guardians to activate the event for the season finale. Because why else would you need to download a mini-update just before a huge 14-hour maintenance? The preload for the big upcoming update 3.0.0.1 is already active on PS4 – so a small fix for that is also not an option.
In short: It is currently strongly assumed that the event will begin for us in Germany at 1:00 AM on November 10.
What can we expect at the finale of Season 11? This is also currently unknown. Officially, it was said that nothing crazy will happen. Just chilling a bit with friends in the Tower before the lights go out.
It is speculated that we will witness the darkness arriving with its ships at the Traveler or that it may heal itself.
