Destiny 2 has announced a collaboration with the legendary Mass Effect series. This is an exciting crossover experience for fans of both franchises. However, there is a catch – some of the best content will not be free.
What kind of cooperation is this? For several seasons, Bungie has been collaborating with other developers of successful games. Usually, it is about crossovers with cosmetic items or specific content for Destiny 2.
- For Fortnite by Epic Games, a detailed recreation of the PvP mode “Control” was created in its creative mode. Players are also allowed to wreak havoc on the iconic Destiny map “Javelin-4” during the Fortnite battles.
- Then they teamed up with Ubisoft and Assassin’s Creed. In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, players could purchase a Destiny 2 character pack, including armor sets, swords, and skins. For the Guardians, there was a matching cosmetic set.
- In the ongoing season 23, Bungie collaborated with CD Projekt Red and brought a knightly armor ornament set inspired by Geralt from “The Witcher” to Destiny 2.

Players found the sets too expensive: However, with the crossovers, Bungie has increasingly come under criticism. As beautiful as the visual Witcher look is – it is not cheap. The Witcher set cost about as much as the games Witcher 1, 2, and 3 combined. Something that has been harshly criticized by the Guardians, who commented with the words “Bungie didn’t understand anything.”
In season 23, another crossover set in cooperation with BioWare and the popular game “Mass Effect” will follow. Bungie has taken note of player criticism. However, not in the way some players might have hoped.
Mass Effect set is only partially free
These sets are expected by the players: Destiny 2 will bring the new crossover cosmetic set into the game already on February 13. It is inspired by characters and designs from the Mass Effect universe, such as Commander Shepard, Garrus Vakarian, Liara T’Soni, and other members of the Systems Alliance.
However, unlike before, Bungie has announced this time that part of this set will be free for all players. This seems to be a reaction to past complaints from players.
- There will be a free “Alliance Equipment Pack” for all players.
- It includes the “Enhanced Defense” ghost shell, the Alliance scout frigate ship, and the Alliance drop ship Sparrow.
- The “Normandy Crew Pack” will only be available for silver in the Eververse store.
- It offers the N7 armor set for Titans inspired by Commander Shepard, the Vakarian set for Hunters inspired by Garrus, and the Shadow Broker set for Warlocks inspired by Liara.
- You can also only purchase the Omni-Strike finisher and the Flux dance gesture with silver.
How much will the sets cost? The price of the new armor sets has not yet been announced. However, the previous crossover outfit ornaments cost 2,000 silver per set, which is about 19.99 euros each. Whether Bungie will maintain this price and whether there will be a combo pack will probably only become clear on February 13 when the items are available in the shop.
Only then can you decide if you want to defeat the enemies of humanity in the Mass Effect look and if the price is justified.
What are players saying? They are torn in the comments of the Destiny Reddit. For some, the armors are the best thing about the upcoming Mass Effect set. But those are not included in the free “Alliance Equipment Pack”.
