Clans will play an even bigger role in Destiny 2 than in its predecessor. Find out here how to migrate your clans to the new system.
Clans connect players worldwide. It is not uncommon for random players to become real friends. The internet is full of reports about clan meetups, stories from people who met online by chance, formed virtual friendships, and then met somewhere in real life.
Clans will have an even more important role in Destiny 2. Not only to tackle the biggest challenges of the game together but also to help lone wolves achieve victory.

What does the clan transition to Destiny 2 bring?
Your Destiny clan previously depended solely on a group on Bungie.net. In order to take advantage of the new Destiny 2 clans, the respective clan founder must adopt the new structure.
When Destiny 2 launches, these migrated clans will find features in the game to manage the clan overview. New is that each member of a clan receives rewards based on the activities of their peers. This is intended to make membership in a clan significantly more rewarding. Also new are the so-called Guided Games, which aim to help individual players master the hardest endgame activities.
Bungie promises a whole toolbox of tools that you will find on Bungie.net as well as in the Destiny app.

What do clan founders need to do now?
Bungie has offered you two options since July 26, which you can switch between as many times as you like until August 23. After August 23, the then valid setting will be adopted. So think carefully about what you want to do with your group.
Option A: Upgrade to Destiny 2 Clan
This option is recommended by Bungie for smaller communities (3 to 100 members), where the majority of the group members are also clan members in the game. If this option is active on August 23, the following will happen:
- The corresponding group will be deleted
- The forum history and chat history of the group will be transferred to the Destiny 2 clan
If you are members of the group but not part of the clan, you will be “removed” on August 23. If you want to remain members, you must join the clan before August 23. This also applies to players who are represented in multiple groups. If there is no clan membership by August 23, you will be removed from all groups.

Option B: Remain a group
This option is recommended for large groups with over 100 members, where the majority are not members of the clan in-game. If this option is active on August 23, the following occurs:
- The clan will be deleted
- The clan overview will be removed
- The clan name is reserved for the original clan founder
- The forum and chat history will remain part of the group and will not be transferred to the clan name reservation
For this option, there is the possibility to reserve your clan name if you want to create a new clan with Destiny 2. Note that this reservation is only temporary, until September 20, 2017.
If you want to create a new clan for Destiny 2 within this period, the original founder simply needs to create a new clan with that name.

If the clan founder is unable to make a setting independently, the following default settings apply:
- Groups in which at least 50% of the members are part of the clan will be assigned to Option A,
- Groups with a membership share regarding clan affiliation of less than 50% will automatically be assigned to Option B.
When will you have access to the new clan features?
Bungie will begin extensive maintenance on August 23 on both Bungie.net and in the Destiny Companion App. After this maintenance is completed, some of the clan features will be available, such as setting a custom banner or a clan motto. Additional clan features will follow later.

The original clan founder is gone – What to do?
The group founder from Destiny 1 can designate the new clan founder for Destiny 2 in the clan overview. You can access this view by clicking the CLAN button on the bar between MEMBERS and LEADERBOARDS.
This means that the original group founder must take action again, even if he no longer plays Destiny.
