In Destiny 2, the last new weapon Exotic of Season 11 is finally here – the exotic pistol Chosen of the Traveler. Hopes have been fulfilled, and with the Weekly Reset on 09/08, the new Exotic has finally entered the game. Here’s how the evacuation quest proceeds.
This exotic weapon is about: In Season 11, there are a total of 3 new exotic weapons. With the grenade launcher Withering Collector and the fusion rifle Fallen Aspect already long in the game, the pistol Chosen of the Traveler has now joined them.

Keep in mind: Although the weapon and the quest with all its steps had long been in the game’s data, the actual quest only went live on September 8. The Chosen of the Traveler can finally be earned now.
What’s going on with the evacuation? We already got a kind of preview of the upcoming evacuation when we had to notify the key NPCs about the imminent clearance of some locations.
The actual evacuation quest for the new Exotic has a total of a staggering 22 steps and takes the Guardians, among other places, to
- Mars,
- Mercury,
- Io, and
- Titan,
where we are to initiate the evacuation. The NPCs stationed there are supposed to pack their belongings and withdraw. In principle, this quest clears half the solar system (map) of Destiny 2.
The interesting part: The locations that are evacuated will actually disappear soon – with the upcoming Autumn expansion Beyond Light and Season 12. They will be stored in the Destiny Content Vault to make room for new locations like the icy moon Europa or the Cosmodrome from Destiny 1.
Other quests or tasks, such as the mysterious Eyes of Savathûn, also lead the Guardians to these locations. It already looks like Bungie is sending the players on a sort of farewell tour before these locations and their activities disappear. And the players think it’s great. The evacuations will also be further incorporated into the story.
Chosen of the Traveler – Here’s how the quest for the new weapon Exotic goes
Where can you get the quest?: It starts with Commander Zavala in the Tower. Because he personally ordered the evacuation.
Here’s what you need to do on the way to the Chosen of the Traveler:
Step 1 – Evacuation: Io: The first step for you is on Io. There you should meet Asher Mir and tell him that Zavala has ordered his evacuation.
Step 2 – Observer Effect: Asher is apparently not quite finished with his research work yet – especially in light of the arrival of the Pyramid ship – and you are to help him investigate the influence of the Pyramid on Io.
To do this, you need to collect a sample of the Taken Phalanx Blaster in the Lost Sector Bone Sanctum. Additionally, inspect the chest in the Bone Sanctum. And you must gather traces of corruption by defeating Taken on Io.
Step 3 – Into the Pyramidion: Next, you go into the Strike The Pyramidion, which you must complete. For this step, you also need to collect scan traces by eliminating Vex all over Io.
Step 4 – Double-Blind Study: Now you have to complete the heroic adventure Unexpected Guests to find out what is behind the increase in Taken activity.
Step 5 – Fleischman-Aschheim-Axiom: With your findings and insights, you now go back to Asher Mir.
Step 6 – Evacuation: Titan: After Io, you go to the moon Titan, where you should meet with Sloane stationed there and report her Zavala’s concerns.
Step 7 – Clean the Deck: Sloane apparently still has a lot to do on Titan before she withdraws there. She asks you to eliminate the Hive Knight Dek-Thra in the Lost Sector Methane Flush in the Siren Watch and to open a chest there.
Step 8 – Change of Ownership: In this step, you should open chests guarded by Hive Ultras in the Solarium and in the Wailing Halls. This way you will claim some Golden Age technologies for yourself.
Step 9 – Be the Wall: Now you go into the Strike Savathûn’s Song, which you must complete. Additionally, you must defeat Hive Ogres, Wizards, and Knights on Titan to collect tech fragments.
Step 10 – The Will of a Titan: Now return to Sloane and report to her.
Step 11 – Return to Zavala: After you have already supported the NPCs at 2 locations and ordered the evacuation there, you return to Zavala for a progress report. Seek him out in the Tower to receive further instructions.
Step 12 – Evacuation: Mercury: After the conversation with the Vanguard Commander, you head to Mercury, where you are to inform Brother Vance that Zavala has also ordered his evacuation.
Step 13 – A Shattered Future: But Vance does not want to leave hastily and asks for your help. You are to complete the Strike A Garden World and eliminate Hydras, Minotaurs, and Cyclops on Mercury to collect timeline fragments.
Step 14 – In His Footsteps: Next, you will go into the Strike Tree of Probabilities. Additionally, you are to defeat Cabal on Mercury to gather traces of Osiris.
Step 15 – A Disciple’s Request: Lastly, you should complete the adventure Error in the System on Heroic for Vance.
Step 16 – Better Days Ahead: Once all this is done, you should return to Vance with your findings.
Step 17 – Evacuation: Mars: Lastly, you should meet Ana Bray on Mars and initiate the evacuation there.
Step 18 – Signs of Life: She asks you to investigate the Clovis Lab: Rasputin for clues about Rasputin. After all, the Warmind Rasputin has his “headquarters” on Mars and has aligned himself as an ally.
Step 19 – Recycled Components: Now you should defeat bosses in the Escalation Protocol for Ana to collect parts of Rasputin’s shattered shell.
Step 20 – Signal Shielding: Now complete the adventure Deadly Tremor on Heroic to stop the Hive interference.
Step 21 – Forced Restart: Return to Ana with your findings.
By the way, according to the lore, Ana will leave Mars with a lot of technology towards Earth. Among other things, there is an experimental Exo shell believed to be Rasputin, who may have transferred himself into an Exo body.
Step 22 – Return to Zavala: Now that you have initiated the evacuations of all affected locations, you are to return to Zavala in the Tower. As a reward, the exotic pistol Chosen of the Traveler should finally be yours.
