Destiny-2 players who cheated in the Tribute Hall during the quest for the new exotic weapon Bad Juju will soon have to deal with some restrictions. But don’t worry, the weapon will remain available.
What is the deal with cheating? Recently, Guardians in Destiny 2 can earn the exotic pulse rifle Bad Juju and its masterwork catalyst through a quest.
To do this, one must offer tributes, a kind of reward for specific achievements, in the Tribute Hall. Depending on the supply of materials and currencies as well as progress in certain triumphs, this can either be completed very quickly or turn into a long grind.
Especially if one wants to have beside the weapon the exotic masterwork catalyst or the emote for all 50 tributes in the Tribute Hall. Because for the weapon, 18 tributes are required, for the catalyst a proud 45, and for the exotic gesture, even all 50.
However, players quickly discovered a trick that allowed them to essentially cheat tributes without ever having to earn or buy one legitimately. This way, one could submit tributes “out of nowhere” until obtaining the new weapon exotic, its catalyst, and the emote. But this has consequences.
These are the restrictions cheaters can expect: In the current “This Week at Bungie” blog, the studio explained that this cheese will be punished – with the next update on July 30.
The glitch will be fixed there. Additionally, for all who used this glitch, the number of offered triumphs will be reduced to the amount that they have actually earned honestly.
The cheated weapon itself will not be lost, and its use will not be restricted – regardless of whether you have fewer than 18 submitted tributes or not. Bungie is letting corresponding players off lightly.
However, the use of the exotic masterwork catalyst and the emote “Where the X is” will be limited starting July 30. Though players will not lose these items, they can only reactivate or equip them again once they have honestly submitted the required number of tributes.
What do you think of this step? Is the punishment appropriate, unnecessary, or even too lenient in your eyes?
