The Dawning is coming soon, the winter festival of Destiny 2. Bungie has now revealed the first details on how the celebrations will take place in 2019. We will show you what to expect this Christmas in the Destiny universe.
What is The Dawning all about? The Dawning refers to the Christmas festivities in the world of Destiny.
The Tower of the Last City will be dressed up in a Christmas look. You can bake cookies, secure festive loot, and the Eververse will have various themed items.

The Dawning 2019 in Destiny 2 – All information about the winter event
Eva Levante returns to the Tower and will again be your main contact for the event. But how and when exactly will it take place? Here is what we know so far:
When does the Dawning event take place? As the roadmap for Season 9 has already communicated, the winter event will last for 4 weeks. It starts on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, with the weekly reset at 6:00 PM. The celebrations will end at 6:00 PM on January 14, 2020.
Who can participate? All guardians can participate in this free winter event, including players of the Free-to-Play version Destiny 2: New Light.
Only 2 conditions need to be met:
- You must have completed the Cosmodrome mission to unlock the Tower
- You must have reached Power Level 770
What can you do during The Dawning? As with last year, baking Christmas treats will be the focus of The Dawning 2019.
Eva has numerous recipes and baking accessories ready for you in the form of a festive oven. The goal is to earn ingredients and process them into various baking creations in the oven. You then deliver this baked goods to various known NPCs across the entire solar system and receive progress for special Dawning bounties and rewards in return.
All the ingredients and cookies from last year will return, but there will also be some new ingredients and recipes. In addition, Bungie has improved the baking process and the oven – however, no specific details were provided.

What rewards does the Dawning event bring? During The Dawning, you can earn some cool rewards through the event bounties, including
- the new event submachine gun Cold Front (with random rolls)
- the heavy machine gun “The Avalanche” from last year
There should also be a new ship and a new sparrow. In addition to new rewards, rewards from last year will also return, which you may have missed in 2018.
Additionally, the weekly and repeatable Dawning bounties will also provide Glimmer in addition to the usual sources, allowing you to earn more of it. The Eververse will offer all sorts of festive-inspired items – including
- new Northern Light armor ornaments
- new weapon ornaments
- new Ghost shells
- new Sparrows
- and more
By the way, so far only one item – an emote – is known to be available exclusively for Silver, meaning real money.
What about event engrams? The studio did not specify details, but it can be assumed that, as with the Festival of the Lost, there will be no special event engrams during the winter event either.
The event-specific items will likely only be earned through Eva Levante or purchased from the Eververse again.
