At Destiny 2, Bungie is making changes to the roadmap. Some new features have to be delayed to make them “super cool”.
In early February, Bungie presented a roadmap for Spring 2018. This schedule indicated when to expect which updates and what endgame features they would deliver.
Back then, Bungie pointed out that this was only a rough roadmap, and a lot could still change. Now, just a week before the next “milestone” in this roadmap, the update 1.1.3, the developers provide an updated version of the roadmap. Some changes have been made.
What to expect in update 1.1.3
The update 1.1.3 is scheduled for February 27.
What has been adjusted compared to the previous roadmap?
- The mechanic designed to prevent getting the same exotic repeatedly is being delayed to 1.1.4
- You can inspect the vendors in the companion app – also delayed to 1.1.4
- The revision of the auras is no longer in the roadmap.
- A first version of Nightfall strike challenge cards will be available – brought forward from 1.1.4 to 1.1.3.
- The Nightfall will receive unique rewards – this goal has been delayed from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4
So these are the new features with 1.1.3:
- Nightfall scoring and high-score tracking: Nightfall strike will replace the time limitation with strike scoring!
- There will be a first version of Prestige Nightfall challenge cards.
- Revision of badges for locations, crucible, and nightfall
- Your teammates will be displayed on the deployment map!
- A public text chat will be available on PC
- In the companion app, you can interact with mods and shaders

What to expect in update 1.1.4
The update 1.1.4 is planned for March 27.
What has been adjusted compared to the previous roadmap?
- The weekly crucible playlists will not only be enhanced with the Shank Tank, but also with Rumble.
- The Nightfall challenge cards will come with 1.1.3 instead of 1.1.4.
- The mechanic designed to prevent getting the same exotic repeatedly is now appearing with 1.1.4.
- You can inspect the vendors in the companion app – now appearing with 1.1.4.
- Sandbox adjustments for exotic weapons and armor – this goal will only be achieved in May, so delayed from 1.1.4 to 1.2.0
- Unique Nightfall rewards – appearing with 1.1.4 instead of 1.1.3
So these are the new features with 1.1.4:
- Sandbox changes to weapons and abilities
- The heroic strikes will receive modifiers
- The Iron Banner will be played in 6v6!
- Weekly crucible playlists will be introduced – including Shank Tank and Rumble
- Ammunition and gameplay in crucible will be adjusted
- Penalties for quitters in crucible will be introduced
- A protection mechanic will come to prevent the same map from repeating in PvP or the strike while playing the playlists.
- A mechanic will be introduced to prevent getting the same exotic repeatedly
- Unique Nightfall rewards are coming
- In the companion app, you can inspect the vendors

What to expect in update 1.2.0
Version 1.2.0 will be released in May along with Season 3 and the 2nd DLC.
What has been adjusted compared to the previous roadmap?
- Sandbox adjustments for exotic weapons and armor will be released with 1.2.0 instead of 1.1.4. The work will thus take about 2 months longer.
- The mod system will take longer than planned. It will no longer appear in May and will also not be shown on the roadmap.
So these are the new features with 1.2.0:
- The world-eater raid tract will receive a special prestige mode
- Seasonal crucible rankings will be introduced
- Private matches will be introduced
- The vault will be expanded. According to the previous roadmap by 50 slots. Additionally, further changes are being worked on to prevent the vault from overflowing.
- Multi-Emote: Soon you will be able to select multiple emotes – and not just one
- Exotic masterpieces are on the agenda
- Certain vendors will receive a seasonal rank. Earn reputation to unlock items from them. This rank will reset each season.
- Improvements to group fights will be implemented
- Sandbox adjustments for exotic weapons and armor

Furthermore, Game Director Christopher Barrett states about these changes: The reason for the delays is that they want to ensure that the features meet high quality standards.
For example, they wanted to release the unique Nightfall weapons simultaneously with the strike scoring, but it is more important that these rewards meet the new challenges. And that will still take a while. They need to be “super cool”, Barrett said, hence they are giving the artists extra time to make them super cool.
Specifically regarding the mod system, he says that the improvements are still planned. When we can expect Mod 2.0 will be announced in the future.
He is also pleased to announce that with 1.1.4 the Rumble mode, a free-for-all mode, will be introduced. There should be more variety in the PvP modes. A Doubles mode is also planned, but there is no release date for that yet. The strict 4v4 format will thus be broken, following last week’s initiation of the Crimson playlist.
Interesting: Destiny 2 is revising the Prestige Raids, introducing loadout mode!
