With the story trailer in mind, the beginning of the new campaign of Destiny 2 plays with the feelings of the Guardians and trolls them multiple times throughout the storyline. This is reported by players and media representatives who have already been able to play the first story mission of Forsaken.
Big spoiler: At E3 2018, Bungie caused a big spoiler with the story trailer for Destiny 2: Forsaken. The short video doesn’t reveal much, but it stirred up enough emotions. This was clearly reflected in the reactions of many fans. Because one thing is certain: the beloved character Cayde-6 dies.
Campaign beginning playable: Later, selected players and press representatives were allowed to play the first mission of Forsaken behind closed doors. What do they think of the story? And how does the spoiler affect the gaming experience?

WARNING – SPOILER: Although very little is revealed about the story, anyone who prefers to experience the narrated events themselves should refrain from reading further.
The beginning of Forsaken plays with the feelings of the fans in a cat-and-mouse game
It may seem somewhat strange for a developer to reveal something as big and moving as Cayde’s death prematurely. However, according to reports, the first story mission of Forsaken offers a unique experience with the knowledge of Cayde’s inevitable death in mind – and this seems to be intentional.

Bungie trolls players: Because if you’ve seen the story trailer for Forsaken, you know what will happen on September 4. And the creators of Forsaken are also aware that you know. Apparently, this was all planned. In the first 30 minutes of the Forsaken story, Bungie and the High Moon Studios spare no opportunity to troll the players and play with their feelings.
You root for him: The leader of the Hunter Vanguard, Cayde-6, finds himself in numerous precarious situations – in each of them, one automatically assumes his certain death. Because you know how it will end. However, it is not the end. And so, Forsaken takes players on an emotional rollercoaster time and time again.
Instead of witnessing Cayde’s presumed death every few minutes, you fight either alone or side by side with the Hunter through the burning prison of the Elders and shoot your way through a best-of selection of Destiny’s nastiest villains. Cabal, Vex, Taken – pretty much everything is there. While they may not like each other much, they like your Guardian even less. Thus, you quickly become the favorite target for the escaping space scum.
Spoiler changes the gaming experience: Although this mission does not play significantly different from the usual campaign experience of the Destiny series, the feeling and atmosphere are entirely different. With the knowledge of Cayde’s death, each step and each breath feels as if you are getting closer to the inevitable doom piece by piece.

It is a strange feeling to know that one of the most beloved characters is about to die, yet it is still not the time – even when you are 100% sure. Time and again, Cayde manages to escape death one last time.
In the end, the inevitable awaits: However, as you already know, it ultimately does not work out. The mission ends with a video sequence that goes much further than the shown trailer. It shows the last moments of Cayde’s life and his last words before he is executed by Prince Uldren. Even in this dark hour, Cayde-6 reportedly retains none of his charm and wit, which would make his loss even more painful.
