The loyalty of a long-time employee has now been rewarded by Bungie with a cool, life-size replica of an exotic weapon from Destiny 2 .
What’s the story behind the gift? At numerous companies in the video game industry, it is customary to reward key employees for specific milestones in their careers with extravagant, custom-made gifts from “their games”. This is also the case for a long-time, loyal employee of Bungie. He has received a gift that many Guardians might envy.
Who is it about? Christopher Barrett has now been surprised with a cool 1:1 replica of a Destiny 2 exotic for his 20th anniversary at Bungie.
He has been loyal to Bungie since 1999 and has worked on titles such as Myth II: Soulblighter and every HALO title from the studio, as well as Destiny 1. He was also the face and voice of Bungie around the Forsaken expansion in Destiny 2 and is now serving as the Gaming Director.
This is what Chris Barrett received: The anniversary gift is a life-size replica of the exotic shotgun Lord of Wolves from Destiny 1 and 2.
Proud and full of joy, Barrett presented the piece on Twitter.
There he also thanked his employer Bungie and the responsible artist RatedEforEric, who has already custom-crafted many weapon replicas from the Destiny universe for Bungie. The shotgun is set to find a place above his desk soon, according to the Gaming Director.
The shotgun was special in the game as well: The shotgun is likely to be a special memory not just for Barrett. Most Destiny veterans should already know this firearm in the typical Fallen look from Destiny 1. However, in Destiny 2, Lord of Wolves was for a time a true monster and terrorized Guardians in the Crucible, before Bungie nerfed the weapon and then “memorialized it”.
Many Guardians, not just Barrett, are thrilled about the life-size replica and congratulate him on this gift. What about you? Would you be happy to receive such a replica? Or couldn’t you care less about such things?
