In the current “This Week at Bungie” blog, the developers have commented on the recent sightings of the Dreadnought in Destiny 2. However, the response may disappoint some fans.
What happened? Not only is the Festival of the Lost currently a topic of discussion around Destiny 2. Recently, a special animation of the loading screen has excited many Guardians.
Because players who are supposed to travel to Titan, see under certain circumstances the Saturn and Oryx’s Dreadnought from Destiny 1 during the approach animation.
What does the sighting mean? Fans have already crafted their own theories about what this phenomenon could mean. Some hoped that the Dreadnought would soon make its way into Destiny 2 – either as a PvE zone or as a PvP map. Now, Bungie has addressed the matter.
Dreadnought is incorrectly displayed in the game
This is what Bungie says about the matter: The developers’ statement is likely to dispel the hope of some fans for an imminent return of the Dreadnought. Because, as some have already suspected, it seems to be simply a bug.
The studio has now stated that this animation consists of old remnants. These are now incorrectly displayed during the approach to Titan. Bungie emphasizes: This loading screen is not part of future content.
Is the return of the Dreadnought now ruled out?
This is why fans believe in a return: A widely held fan theory is that Oryx’s Dreadnought could return as part of an upcoming DLC or the next expansion. Because there is a scene after the end of the base game of Destiny 2 that apparently serves as a sort of plan, indicating the order in which the Guardians will visit further locations in the game.
In this cutscene, the Light of the Traveler interacts with the following locations: Mercury, Mars, Reef, Saturn, and the Dreadnought, as well as a distant part of the solar system where mysterious ships lurk. The order of the locations has been maintained chronologically so far.
The Guardians have already visited Mercury, Mars, and the Reef in the two DLCs and the Forsaken expansion. Next up would be Saturn and Oryx’s Dreadnought. Could this system now possibly be disrupted?
What should we make of Bungie’s statement? In the announcement, Bungie explicitly refers to the loading sequence. This loading screen is not part of future content.
However, it does not mention that the Dreadnought or Saturn itself will not return. There may simply be a new animation.
