Bungie’s game director announced a variety of new things just before Christmas that we can expect early in 2018 in Destiny 2.
Actually, Bungie is already in hibernation mode. It was announced last week that new blog posts will not appear until 2018, and last Tuesday, community manager DeeJ tweeted that this would be his last working day in 2017.
An important figure from Bungie spoke out again just before Christmas: game director Christopher Barrett. He wishes all Guardians happy holidays and hopes that you enjoy the dawning or at least the chaos in the Cauldron. Furthermore, he would like to mention a few things before the year 2017 ends.
Updates to Iron Banner, the Raid, Faction Rally, Eververse, and the Vault
Barrett addresses several aspects of the game that have repeatedly sparked heated discussions in recent weeks and months:
- Iron Banner and Faction Rally: These two events will return in January. In addition to new armor ornaments from Season 2, the events will include Sparrows, Ghost Shells, ships, and shaders in the loot pool.
- Raid: Early in 2018, the raid items are set to be revised. The hardest activities should also be the most rewarding.
- Eververse: All feedback regarding Eververse is being taken into account. They want players to feel respected, but they also want to deliver great content regularly. We can expect many discussions about Eververse with the developers. In the new year, there will be an update on the future direction.
- Vault: To store all your items, they are working on short-term and long-term solutions for vault space.
There are no concrete dates or further information regarding these updates yet. But many Guardians are already satisfied that Barrett is at least somewhat transparent and listing what Bungie is working on and what players can look forward to in the near future.
Christopher Barrett is currently regarded as something of a “messiah”. He works with the live team and is tasked with implementing the feedback and wishes of the community as much as possible. He was also the one who spoke out at the end of October and announced endgame updates. By the way, he also wrote that we should expect private matches in the Crucible early 2018.
