In Destiny 2, Bungie announced that they would bring a PvE activity that should work particularly well on Twitch. However, the most-watched Twitch streamer for Destiny 2, Sean “Gladd” Gallagher, announced that he would hardly play Destiny in the coming months. The loot is too bad for him.
This is the new mode: In the weekly blog post on Thursday, Bungie introduced the “Top Tier,” the ultimate PvE challenge. This should become a new difficulty level for Nightfall.
- The mode is said to be “even harder” than the Grandmaster level.
- Top Tier is supposed to challenge the team thoroughly and push players to create perfect loadouts.
- The new difficulty level will come to Destiny 2 on April 21.
The target audience for the mode is PvE junkies who already possess the best items in Destiny 2 and find all challenges in the game too easy.
As a reward, there are “higher chances for exotic armor or masterwork materials.” Above all, Bungie offers the honor and glory of having achieved success: There is also a new title – Conqueror.
This is why the mode is made for Twitch: The mode should explicitly be “watchable.”
Just as the Trials of Osiris are the PvP highlight of the week, the Nightfall in the “Top Tier” mode would be the highlight for PvE experts. On Twitch, fans could watch their favorite streamer conquer an activity that almost everyone else fails at.
When the Trials returned, it was already clear that Bungie had Twitch streamers in mind and wanted to bind them more strongly to the game again. This has worked quite well: The Trials provided PvP expert GernaderJake with record numbers.
The “Top Tier” Nightfall is now apparently intended to be good for PvE experts on Twitch, as Destiny 2 lacks PvE highlights. There are no raids outside of the annual expansion, and events like puzzles come quite rarely.

Loot disappoints top streamers so much that he takes a break from Destiny
This is Gladd’s reaction: The one for whom the content is probably most made for is Sean “Gladd” Gallagher, the PvE ace of Destiny 2.
However, he announced after the announcement that he would hardly play Destiny 2 in the coming months.
He is disappointed that there is no loot difference between the new activity and the normal Grandmaster Nightfall. The new “Top Tier activity” is said to be a goal for people who want to complete everything. Gladd apparently has no interest in that. He says he has now lost interest in Destiny 2.
Gladd has announced that he will withdraw from Destiny 2 for the next few months.
Even before the announcement, Gladd had said that he was slowly tired of Destiny 2. The season model with the content coming gradually exhausts him. He will now stop just streaming Destiny 2 and turn to other games on Twitch.
However, he is not angry with Bungie or holds a grudge. He believes that there is a lot happening behind the scenes of Destiny 2 that he does not know about, especially after Bungie separated from Activision.
This is Gladd: The Twitch streamer Gladd is considered the greatest PvE expert of Destiny 2. He has been involved in the most important PvE events of recent times:
- He was the one who solved the Niobe Labs in January 2019.
- He also benefited greatly from the hype around the puzzle in Destiny 2 at the beginning of 2020. Here, Gladd was able to earn about $100,000 a month through Twitch subs.
Gladd is the most-watched Twitch streamer for Destiny 2 in the last 365 days:
- Gladd was watched for 7.6 million hours.
- KingGothalion (now on Mixer) 3.45 million hours.
- Datto could account for 2.7 million hours.
When will Destiny 2 get better again? The situation of Destiny 2 is currently seen as difficult by observers and many, but not all players. The season model relies on bite-sized content, events, and grind. This model seems to fatigue not only Gladd, but also other players.
Even the head of Destiny, Luke Smith, sees difficulties in the model. He has already announced that he intends to take a different direction in the future: The world of Destiny 2 should change more. Bungie plans to rely less on time-limited events in the future.
Gladd and many fans hope that the situation of Destiny 2 will improve with the fall of 2020. The announced direction change should take effect then. A new expansion is also expected.
When Gladd says: He will hardly be seen in Destiny 2 for 2 seasons, there is hope that we will experience a resurgence in Destiny 2 in fall 2020 – just as has happened twice in the fall of a year over the past 6 years.
