In Destiny 2, the first Iron Banner of Year 3 has begun, but numerous Guardians are currently struggling with the new quest “Scraping the Rust Off.” Because one step does not register progress. Here’s how to circumvent this annoying bug.
What kind of quest is this? In Destiny 2, the Iron Lord Saladin is currently visiting, and many Guardians are competing in the first Iron Banner PvP event of Year 3.
During Season 8, Guardians can undertake a quest line for the new Iron Banner armor – “Scraping the Rust Off.” It consists of several steps and allows players to:
- Capture zones,
- Defeat enemies
- Complete matches
- Or get kills with certain weapons
By the way, there were some changes with the Iron Banner in Season 8. You can learn more about this here: How the Iron Banner of Destiny 2 changes with the new Season 8
This is the problem with the quest: The quest itself is relatively simple. You just play the Iron Banner and need to get a few kills with the Pulse Rifle here, some kills with the Super there, and also capture some zones. If you pay attention to your weapon choice, you can basically achieve progress quite easily – at least until you reach the quest step Belief.
There, you need to fulfill a requirement in addition to a certain number of captured zones and completed matches – namely, 10 kills with grenade launchers. But precisely here, no progress can be made. Kills with grenade launchers simply don’t count – no matter which slot you have the weapon equipped in.
However, there were instances where Guardians were still credited kills. Wild theories have already emerged – for example, that you need to blast your opponent with the grenade launcher while he is in an active Super state. None of that has been confirmed. Now, clever Guardians have figured out what was wrong.
Here’s how to bypass the annoying bug: It is clearly a bug, where some lines of code have apparently been swapped.
Because instead of counting grenade launcher kills, kills with submachine guns count for this step. So if you want to bypass the bug and successfully complete the quest step, simply grab any SMG and get 10 kills with it.
This way, you not only complete this bugged quest part, but kills with a submachine gun can also be easier for some Guardians to achieve than with a grenade launcher.
Have you also struggled with this quest step or can this tip now save you some time?
