Recently, a curious story took place in Destiny 2. Bungie fixed a bug in the game, but fans find the bug so cool that they are calling for it to be made a feature in the game.
What happened? With the Update 2.1.0, a major bug crept into the game – and literally so. Due to the bug, the already large Vex boss Protheon in the Strike “The Twisted Spire” could grow to three times its size, resembling a skyscraper.

However, the bug never went live. Bungie noticed the error in time and subsequently disabled the entire Strike. With the Update 2.1.1.1, the bug was fixed, and the Strike can be played normally again.
This is how the fans became aware of this bug: The community only became aware of this error when Bungie mentioned it in the patch notes of the latest update. It stated that a problem was fixed that caused Protheon, the Modular Spirit, to grow three times larger than intended.

Following this, fans started a petition on Reddit calling for video evidence of this bug. The petition quickly received thousands of upvotes, and Bungie responded to the fans’ request. The studio posted a short clip on Twitter showing the giant behemoth in all its glory. You can see the video here: The Giant Protheon
How the fans are reacting: Fans are really enjoying this bug. Many think it’s a shame that the bug didn’t make it into the game. They would have liked to fight against this giant. The community has even given it a name; they affectionately call the giant “Big Boy”.

Now, however, more and more voices are calling for the unintended growth of the Vex boss to be integrated as a permanent feature in the game. Fans can imagine numerous possibilities for how this giant could be incorporated into the game:
- As a boss in the Nightfall version of the strike
- As a kind of Easter egg
- As a rare spawn instead of the regular Protheon with special loot
- Some wish that the normal Protheon would be completely replaced by the giant version
Whether Bungie will actually respond to this remains to be seen. But the fans would certainly be pleased.
What do you think of this bug? Would you also like to fight against this Vex Godzilla?
