The Guardians in Destiny 2 can look forward to an unexpected transformation in the upcoming Season 23: The world of “The Witcher” meets the sci-fi universe of Bungie’s loot shooter. The new armor ornaments, inspired by Geralt from “The Witcher,” promise an impressive appearance. But behind the tempting facade lurks a nasty catch.
That’s why Guardians will soon become Geralt: Just in time for the start of the “Season of Wishes” on November 28, Guardians in Destiny 2 can look forward to a Geralt of Rivia look.
Via Twitter/X, Bungie announced the partnership with CD Projekt Red and presented knightly armor ornament sets for Season 23.
- All three classes will have access to “The Witcher” ornaments in Season 23, with the greatest Witcher inspiration particularly evident in the Titan armor.
- Additionally, there will also be a Ghost shell, a ship, a Sparrow, an emote, and a finisher available for purchase.
However, even these tempting skins seem unable to soothe players’ sentiments. The community reacted with mixed feelings, and some are unwilling to spend a penny on them. And this is concerning, as Destiny 2 seems to be in urgent need of revenue at the moment.
This iron armor will cost its weight in silver
Here’s what the ornaments are expected to cost: As nice as the visual Witcher look may be – it’s not cheap. While no exact details about the prices in Destiny 2 are known yet, one can assume that these ornaments will be available at the same price as the crossover armor from Assassin’s Creed in Season 18.
- These armor ornaments cost 2,000 silver per set, which is about 19.99 euros each.
- So if you want all three armor ornaments for Hunter, Warlock, and Titan, you’ll pay nearly 60.00 euros in total.
- If you also want the corresponding Ghost shell, the ship, or other items, these will also cost extra.
However, players pointed out here that this total is about as much as Witcher 1, 2, and 3 currently cost together, including the Witcher DLCs.

Not everyone is deterred by the price: Some players, who are devoted to fate, were still satisfied with these new looks and their prices.
In some comments under the Twitter post, it was said that the armor ornaments “look damn cool.” Guardian Joshua Betts even commented: “While I try to avoid microtransactions most of the time… this is really one that I can’t pass up.”
These microtransaction revenues from Eververse and their sales are an important part of Bungie’s business as a live-service game, alongside other revenues from DLCs and seasons.
- As Bungie revealed in 2019, microtransactions significantly contribute to the development of Destiny 2 and enable things that wouldn’t have been possible otherwise.
Nevertheless, Eververse has been under constant criticism since its introduction.
- It is said that Bungie manages to supply Eververse weekly with loot that is much more urgently needed in the main game and thus is missing there.
- Moreover, players often complain that Bungie reacts quickly to errors that harm Eververse – or its economy.
- In contrast, issues and requests for improvements regarding errors in the game, balancing, or performance of the game take far too long to address.
For some players, it is therefore already clear that buying these ornaments will “not end the death spiral of Destiny 2.”
“That would have been cool years ago”
That’s why the Guardians are complaining: In the Destiny Reddit there are also Guardians who are not too enthusiastic. Guardian EnriqueShockwave10 writes, “That would have been cool years ago before they continuously released half-hearted, overpriced expansions and alienated their player base.”
Guardian São-14 even calls for another boycott from the community:
“Let’s apply the same behavior as with the pre-order of ‘The Final Shape.’ We will not buy it. [Bungie] will feel our response in the collection.”

So, the outlook for Destiny 2 is still not good, a company that is currently having a tough year and recently had to lay off 100 employees because sales forecasts were missed by 45 percent.
The “The Final Shape” may suffer because of this, which may need to be postponed by several months:
The recent developments, including layoffs and missed sales expectations, have shaken confidence in the future of the game. Additionally, the engagement of Destiny players has never been lower than at the end of Season 22 and some doubt whether pure silver cosmetics are the solution for Destiny 2.
Amid these announcements and cosmetic reveals, the gaming community remains hopeful for the further development of Destiny 2 and hopes for a positive future, despite the current turbulence at Bungie.
