A new bug brought joy to Destiny 2 once again. The Crucible showered its players with rewards like the Loot Cave from days gone by, but without them having to do anything. However, Bungie quickly pulled the emergency brake and provided a fix with a patch, astonishing everyone.
Loot Cave in the Crucible? – Here is what happened: Players found an interesting way to farm many enhancement materials, weapons, a catalyst, and glimmer in the Crucible with little effort, and even solo.
Cheese Forever, a well-known YouTuber who often publishes bugs and glitches for Destiny 2, demonstrated the new “Loot Cave” (via youtube.com). Players create a private match in the “Survival” mode. The round duration is set to 1 minute and the number of rounds to 2. Team lives are set to 0.
However, to receive loot now, you need to have one of four essential mods activated in your ghost:
- Wealth: When winning in ritual activities, there is a chance for an additional legendary armor piece.
- (Chance for armor, weapons, and weapons with red frames)
- Modularity: When winning in ritual activities, there is a chance for an upgrade module.
- Prism Harvest: Earn enhancement prism bonuses by completing ritual activities.
- Core Harvest: Earn enhancement core bonuses by completing ritual activities.
If you have equipped one of these mods and finish the round, you will receive the rewards promised by the mod. Although this exploit seems harmless, Bungie immediately responded with a lockdown of the mode and subsequently a patch (via x.com). Players are astonished.
Bungie patches the best bugs way too fast
What does the community say about the patch? Many players are astonished. Destiny 2 is known for its absurd and intrusive bugs, glitches, and annoying cheaters in PvP. When a new patch is released, fans are just waiting to discover new bugs in the loot shooter. Such bugs usually remain in the game for several weeks without being fixed.
But when a bug or exploit arises that allows players to farm materials or god rolls unfairly and without effort, the developers immediately jump on it to disable everything and fix it so it doesn’t happen anymore.
The community reacts sarcastically on Twitter and YouTube to Bungie’s intervention:
- “I love that they usually never work on weekends… unless there’s a resource glitch that players can benefit from. Then it’s all hands on deck.” – TheInfamousS
- “Funny how they can fix this kind of glitch in no time. But cheaters in PvP? Naaaah, let them be…” – Jonihazard
- “Broooooo!! Me two days ago – hey don’t make a video about it…. today Bungie – we’ve disabled fun.” – somthin snazzay
- “When players benefit, immediately fix it. When players are negatively affected, fix it if possible.” – @Hosk___________
The developers don’t allow fans any small moments where they can unjustly earn a material or two. Instead, players have to spend a lot of time in activities that no longer bring them joy after several hours.
Has the exploit really been fixed? It is hard to say for sure. Players who are still in their mode with the same settings reportedly can still “exploit” the mode alone.
However, one thing can be said for sure: You can no longer select the mode solo. It is possible that the bug still works and now you need a second buddy for it. But we can’t confirm that.
What do you think about the update policy that Bungie maintains? Do you think it’s good that the developers respond quickly to such issues or did you want to exploit it yourself?
