In Destiny 2, 6 new weapons are really rare, that has changed. Unfortunately, Bungie forgot to inform the Guardians about this in the patch notes.
What this change is about: On March 16, Destiny 2 received update 3.1.1. As always, there are extensive patch notes that address all changes. Only the information that playlist weapons now drop more frequently was forgotten to be communicated to the Guardians.
That these new and previously very rare weapons now land more often in your inventory after activities was confirmed by Community Manager Dylan “dmg04” Gaffner on Twitter. According to him, the team at Bungie prompted him to inform the players:
MeinMMO recently issued a warning that it was not worth spending a lot of time searching for the rare guns before the update: Wait a bit before farming the God Rolls of the new weapons
What these weapons are about:
- Last Dollar: 120 hand cannon with Void damage from Gambit – the revolver is considered the highlight and has basically revitalized the Gambit playlist
- The Third Axiom: 390 pulse rifle with Arc damage from Strikes
- The Grievance: 300 pistol with Arc damage from the Crucible
- Frosted Orbit: 72 sniper rifle with Void damage from the Crucible – the slow sniper is considered a real insider tip among PvP enthusiasts
- Trinary System: 660 fusion rifle with Solar damage from Gambit
- Royal Entry: 15 rocket launcher with Void damage from Strikes – this weapon has built-in aim assist and should not be missing from any collection
Will I finally get a Last Dollar from Gambit?
Why this is such good news: The aforementioned playlist weapons were added to the core activities Gambit, Crucible, and Strikes with the start of Season 13. They can only drop after completing the respective activity. However, the chance to get a God Roll is probably comparable to winning the lottery.
- The guns are really rare, and some Guardians have already completed a full rank reset and seen only one of the new weapons or, worse: none at all.
- Furthermore, the potential perk pool on the playlist weapons is huge, so you need double the luck: first, the rare weapon has to drop, then the perks must also be right.
- However, really strong combinations are possible in balancing.
For all Guardians primarily wandering in PvP, the most important change since the start of Season 13 is expected next week. On March 23, Bungie will significantly tweak the Stasis classes and nasty Ice abilities that have turned the Crucible into a frozen nightmare.
The next Season 14 will directly continue on May 11 and will bring, for example, the raid highlight from Destiny 1, the Glass Vault, back in a new guise.
This is how the community reacts: The community is visibly pleased that the weapons are supposed to appear more frequently. However, some predict under the Twitter post from dmg04 that the drop rate is still far too low.
Especially for the most attractive of the 6 guns, Last Dollar, the chance seems to be particularly low – some Guardians say. They painfully miss an exact number.
New weapons will not be thrown at you in Destiny 2
Is that it now? The Community Manager promised that they would continue to address the issue in the next season. And more playlist weapons are expected to find their way into the game in the future.
Previously, Bungie talked about why the weapons are so rare. They want to dangle a loot carrot in front of the guardians, and players should immediately check the roll with every drop. If they were to distribute the new weapons too generously to players, they wouldn’t feel like they found something special. In Year 1 of Destiny 2, players were flooded with exotics, which did not go over well in the long run – now they are taking the opposite approach.
Our goal in introducing these rewards was to create space for longer periods and ritual-specific goals for players while chasing the perfect roll of a weapon and to allow similar exploration of possible perk rolls on a weapon archetype as weapon designers do.

In this way, the guardians should feel a lasting reward when playing the core activities – now with the increased drop rate, this should hopefully finally be possible as Bungie intended.
