Since the last reset, the last Override mission has become available in Destiny 2. As every Guardian has long awaited the moment of what will finally happen next in the story, some may have overlooked that a Harpy has been watching us from a distance. We at MeinMMO reveal what has crept into the last Override mission.
Spoiler Warning! The article contains information about a current story development in Destiny 2.
What happened? With the Season of the Splicer, a new Guardian activity also arrived: Override. Since the weekly reset on 10.08, the final mission is in the game. With the new activity, we were able to infiltrate the Vex network thanks to the Splicer Gauntlet we received from the Fallen, to free the last city from the endless night.
Thus, the Guardians diligently played the Override missions until the endless night was banished and Quria, the culprit, was brought to justice.
The friendly Harpy in the last Override mission
You may have overlooked this: During the last Override mission, the Guardians tried with all their might to end the Vex invasion caused by Lakshmi. Since in the heat of battle hardly anyone paid attention to their surroundings, but rather to the dialogues and the combat events, one or another Guardian overlooked that a well-meaning Harpy was watching us from a distance.
As one is used to from the Destiny community, they got to the bottom of the matter and found out that the Harpy was communicating with us. Through the one eye that Harpies have, the friendly Vex colleague transmitted a message to us Guardians in Morse code, which translates to ‘Assistant’.
Which supposedly dead NPC is it about? And which grim and ungrateful Vex scholar once called us “Assistant”? Exactly: Asher Mir.
This is especially significant because Asher Mir is actually considered dead in Destiny 2.
Two things speak in favor of the idea that Asher Mir is now speaking from the Harpy:
- Bungie likes to package its stories in armor and weapons. One of these weapons stands out particularly, namely the KDZ MP of this season “Stochastic Variable“. In the lore, it says, “..a crackling portal: Asher speaks: Fallen are under attack: Dead Orbit in space..”
- The Harpy is located near a few screens that are almost arranged exactly like Asher’s makeshift lab back on Io.
Whether this Harpy is actually meant to be Asher Mir has not yet been confirmed by Bungie. Perhaps the Harpy will play a larger role in the ongoing seasons.
If this really should be Asher, one could assume that he may have succeeded in linking himself to the Vex network.
If this becomes clear, it would be possible that Asher is building his own collective Vex network in the background for the benefit of the Guardians.
Are you surprised that our grim colleague will appear again? Or do you think it’s just a minor allusion that doesn’t require attention? What do you think about the whole matter? Let us know in the comments.
