In Destiny 2 the new expansion Witch Queen is just around the corner. To warm up, Bungie has released a new special trailer full of story tidbits almost 2 weeks before the release.
This is the situation:
- On February 22, 2022, the new expansion The Witch Queen for Destiny 2 will be released.
- On February 8, there was a mysterious video documentation about the expansion with new info about the addon.
- Now Bungie has released another trailer, which hides background information about the story, strange worm gods, and even hints at a new ability.
What kind of trailer is this? In the new trailer, you are explained where the Witch Queen Savathûn and her Hive actually come from and what your mission will be in Witch Queen. The special thing about the trailer is that you can interact with it.
Small Engram symbols keep popping up that you can click on. Then the trailer is briefly interrupted and you get background information on something you are currently seeing in the moving image.

On one hand, you can extract more information from the trailer through the interactivity. On the other hand, you have to keep interrupting, which may cause you to lose track. Additionally, much of what is shown may be hard to understand for those who are not deeply familiar with the lore. However, one piece of information stands out and is emphasized: in Witch Queen, a new, previously unknown ability apparently plays a significant role.
The story of Savathûn and a new, secret ability
The “Deepsight” is an ability that derives directly from the Darkness. Through this, the user should be able to see through the illusions in Savathûn’s Throne World. The description states: “Although the use is necessary, some Guardians are afraid of it.”
When opening the door to darkness in Europe, another dark power is said to have been invited. And it is questionable whether the Guardians will ever be able to fully close this door again.
We cannot yet say how the Deepsight will function in Witch Queen. However, it sounds likely that, for example, new players will have to earn it in a quest line to be able to play the expansion.
