In the Destiny 2 beta, you can explore the Farm for an hour starting at 7 PM. We show you what there is to discover.
The opening of the Farm, the new “Tower” in Destiny 2, is, according to Bungie, meant for an initial server stress test. Bungie wants to see what happens when many Guardians load into a specific zone at once. We took a look around the Farm and show you what there is to discover.
The Farm is still relatively bare, merchants and NPCs are not unlocked or visible. There are the usual vendor tables and the spaceship hangar, although they are not as technologically advanced as in the Tower.
In general, the place is nature-oriented. Chickens cluck, and in the distance, a stream cascades, which we can even enter. One has a slight feeling of exploring the social hub of a Dark Souls. There are small passages, winding corners, and open gates (, through which we unfortunately cannot walk). We can also admire a nice day/night cycle.
A football field seems a bit out of place there. Of course, Bungie had to provide us with an alternative to the beloved ball that Ghaul destroyed. When a goal is scored, there is accompanying fireworks. It makes one think, the Cabal are attacking.
The Eververse is back
No one should be surprised. The tent with the unmistakable logo is back: the cash shop Eververse is expected to also be part of Destiny 2. Tess Everis has likely survived the fall of the Tower.
There is regular lively debate in the community over optional in-game purchases. Some see them as pure rip-offs, while others are willing to spend some coins for their favorite weapon skin.
The first turns on the light
Scattered all over the Farm are lamps that can be turned on and off. We can only speculate about the purpose. Similar apparatuses existed in the previous game at the Vestian Outpost.
Campfire romance and new vault
Bungie really thought of everything. There is even a campfire where the Guardians can share the latest gossip about the Cabal celebrities. Whether the campfire is supposed to serve a special purpose in the main game is still unclear.
Additionally, we noticed two apparatuses that could represent the new vault. The symbol on them is already familiar from the Duskbreaker’s Garrison of the Titan.
