In Destiny 2, the powerful ability of the Bubble Titan returns with “Weapons of Light” – much to the delight of the community.
This is what the “old power” is about: In Destiny 1, the Bubble Titan was a powerful Guardian who was essential in any fireteam. The “Bubble” refers to the “Dusk Shield” – that is the purple dome that the Void Titan creates when he activates his Super.
In Destiny 1, you could choose the “Weapons of Light” as a bonus while using the Bubble – and these were mandatory in endgame activities as they significantly increased the weapon damage of all allies.
Essentially, every boss in Destiny 1 was defeated like this: The Titan sets up his Bubble, every Guardian goes inside, gets the “Weapons of Light” buff and then blasts the boss with the Gjallarhorn or powerful snipers with increased damage, causing the boss to go down quickly.
And with Shadowkeep, the Weapons of Light return to the Void Titan’s Super.

Weapons of Light celebrate their return in Shadowkeep
This was the problem in Destiny 2: With Destiny 2, several subclasses and Supers from Destiny 1 were heavily reworked. The Void Titan could still create his Bubble, but it no longer provided any cool bonuses.
Over time, Bungie tinkered with the Titan subclass, but the Bubble Titan did not reach the glory days of the past.
And the community now hopes that this will change with the return of the “Weapons of Light”.
Here’s how the Guardians react: The Weapons of Light can be seen in this livestream starting at minute 1:00:25. And as soon as the first Guardians noticed them, there was no holding back in the Twitch comments. For minutes, the Guardians wrote “Weapons of Light” along with various joyful expressions.
As soon as you step out of the Bubble, you have increased weapon damage for 15 seconds. How significant this buff will be is still unknown. In Destiny 1, it was 35% with variations for rocket launchers. Whether it will be similarly strong in Destiny 2 remains to be seen.
Nevertheless, many Guardians are now optimistic that they can create a powerful Bubble Titan as a supporter again with Shadowkeep. Because many players loved this role in Destiny 1. One user claims he switched from Titan to Warlock in Destiny 2 because he wanted to play as a supporter. With Shadowkeep, he might be able to switch back to Titan.
However, some Guardians fear that the Weapons of Light could influence the meta so much that Bubble Titans become a requirement and a Titan of this kind will always need to be on hand in top activities – just as it was long in Destiny 1. However, it will only become clear with the Shadowkeep release whether this fear will come true or if Bungie has learned from the past. Currently, the joy over the return of the Bubble buff prevails.

In addition to the Bubble Titan, other subclasses are also being reworked. Bungie revealed that the lower focus path of the Nightstalker Hunter will now allow for better synergies. If you make teammates invisible with a smoke grenade, this charges the grenade faster. And if the Hunter deals damage to enemies with the grenade, it charges the smoke grenade faster.
The Weapons of Light were among the absolute highlights of the Bungie stream. What else the developers revealed, we summarize here:
