In Destiny 2, some fans have discovered an absurd trick that makes the time-critical mission “The Hour Zero” for the new weapon exotic Perfected Outbreak (successor of Outbreak Prime) almost a walk in the park. This has now been circulating online.
Note: The article describes a glitch – we normally do not do this on MeinMMO. In this case, we are making an exception:
- It is a glitch in PvE
- the glitch is already widely known and practically everyone in the English-speaking community knows about it – German-speaking players should not be at a disadvantage here
- People are allegedly already paying money to get Perfected Outbreak
If you have strong feelings against the use of glitches and exploits, we recommend that you do not read the article.

Have you already obtained the Perfected Outbreak? Currently, in Destiny 2, many Guardians are focused on the new exotic pulse rifle “Perfected Outbreak” – because this weapon is pretty good.
Many players have already acquired the new firearm. Others are still struggling with the quest, especially with the final mission “The Hour Zero.”
The mission proves to be a tough nut to crack, even when players have reached the recommended power level.
This mission is required for the weapon itself, for the masterwork catalyst, and subsequently for leveling the catalyst. Additionally, there is a secret triumph and thus a hidden emblem to be earned there – but all of this is in the intense race against time.
Here’s how to get this new weapon exotic: Outbreak Prime is back – Here’s how to get the new weapon exotic
What’s the trick all about? The time (20 minutes) and the recommended power level of 690 are the two biggest hurdles standing between the Guardians and the desired new weapon.
However, some players have discovered a trick that essentially eliminates time as a factor in this mission. This trick can also bypass a low power level.
This trick has been making the rounds on Reddit, social media, and YouTube for several days and is no longer a secret:
- Numerous players are overjoyed, as they claim they would not have been able to get the weapon otherwise.
- Others who obtained the weapon without such tricks turn up their noses.
How does this trick work? Basically, it’s quite simple. In short: The mission is played regularly by one or two Guardians. A third player is tasked with alternately pressing two different buttons for the duration of the mission. That’s all there is to it.
When two or three players have teamed up, the host starts the mission “The Hour Zero” at the Farm. As soon as the ships take off in orbit (not where they wait in orbit), a predetermined player (not the host, preferably the one with the lowest power level) begins to alternately press the keys for the in-game menu and the map. Both keys should be pressed one after the other within a second.
The player continues to do this until the other two Guardians have played the mission to the boss and have brought the final enemy down to about 10 to 30% of their health. At that point, the “button press” with the challenging task is done and can stop abusing the controller or keyboard.
What does the trick do? Primarily, it diminishes the fun of the cool and challenging mission. However, Guardians with a low power level, playing in pairs, or constantly failing the time limit for the mission now have a chance to still get the weapon.
Otherwise, this trick ensures that the mission timer does not start until the “button presser” stops their action.
Because while the rest of the team flies to the mission and proceeds normally, the third player is kept in a sort of waiting loop through the constant switching between the two menus and gets to watch a flickering screen.
They are still considered part of the fire team, but they do not land in the mission with the rest of the team, which prevents the timer from starting. The game sees the team as incomplete.
If they stop tapping or are not quick enough, they too (even after an hour or more) land in the mission. Once they spawn, the timer starts. The rest of the team can now finish off the boss. The latecomer doesn’t even have to make their way there.
If the boss is down within the allotted time (which should now be no problem even with just two players or alone), then at the end, they receive the weapon and, with more than 5 minutes remaining, also the secret triumph including the emblem. In the heroic version, they receive the masterwork catalyst and 20% progress for the catalyst (once per week).
Keep in mind: This trick essentially takes away the entire appeal of the fun mission “The Hour Zero.” However, if you keep failing at this hurdle despite having the right power levels or simply do not have the time or opportunity to study the mission’s course, this trick could be a help to you. Either to get to know the mission and some challenging passages better or to directly obtain the weapon or other rewards.
