Recently, the new PvP mode Momentum Control has arrived in Destiny 2. And for those hunting for top weapons, you may now get some of these firearms there faster than in other Crucible modes.
This mode is about: Since October 29, the Crucible of Destiny 2 has a new PvP mode. The so-called Momentum Control has been introduced, reminiscent of the famous SWAT mode from Halo.
Momentum Control, as it is called in English, is part of the rotating playlist – meaning, it belongs to the modes that rotate weekly and does not count towards competitive PvP.
And if you’re there trying to earn top weapons from the Crucible or want to start, then visiting this mode could indeed be worthwhile.
What makes Momentum Control special? Games are played, just like in the regular Control mode, in a 6vs6 format. Zones must also be captured, but this happens faster here. And that’s not the only difference.
The focus of Momentum Control is primarily on weapon combat. All firearms deal increased damage, there is significantly more Heavy ammo, and the TTK is noticeably shorter.
Additionally, you don’t have to wait after dying but can jump back in directly. Also, there is no radar in this new mode.
Your abilities like melee, grenades, or supers only recharge when you take out enemies, but the supers become stronger. You deal a lot of damage, but you can also take much more hits.
That’s why Momentum Control makes hunting for PvP top weapons easier: If you want to earn a top weapon, for some examples, there is no way around the Crucible. Especially in this new mode, you can now earn some PvP top weapons significantly easier.
If you’re hunting for the Grenade Launcher “The Summit”, you’ll noticeably benefit from the abundant Heavy ammo and the lower Time to Kill. You can equip a legendary weapon in the Power slot and in the Special slot the exotic Grenade Launcher Lion’s Roar for the necessary kills and medals and hunt with that. Hits with the Heavy weapon are deadly anyway, but you can now achieve many more one-hit kills with Lion’s Roar. Since the radar is gone, you can also flank enemy groups much better now.
If you want to earn the Sniper Revocation, it is also much easier now – especially for players who are not really good at sniping. Because most sniper rifles kill in Momentum Control with just one shot – even with a body shot. With the absence of the radar, snipers can now remain in a favorable position for longer without being tracked down by the opponent.
If you’ve set your sights on the Scout Rifle Randy’s Throwing Knife, you can also earn this weapon more easily in the new PvP mode. Because with almost any scout rifle, a single headshot is now deadly. Scout kills and corresponding medals should run much faster than in other modes.
Many Guardians seem to have already discovered this, as in this mode you currently mainly encounter snipers, scout rifles, and grenade launchers.
However, keep in mind: Not every top weapon can equally benefit from the new mode. Hand cannons like Luna’s Howl and Not Forgotten are still completely tied to the competitive playlist. The Submachine Gun Lone Spider also primarily requires the Renown rank in competitive PvP.
But for the newer top weapons, Momentum Control is now your ticket to success. You should definitely try this new mode if you’re hunting for weapons like The Summit, Revocation, or Randy’s Throwing Knife.
Have you already used this mode to get the newer top weapons of PvP? What do you think about Momentum Control in general? By the way, you will soon be able to enjoy the Iron Banner again:
