In Destiny 2 there is a hint about SMGs. Will we see this new weapon type at the gameplay premiere?
Just two more days, and finally the big gameplay premiere of Destiny 2 will take place. So far, Guardians have only seen CGI trailers for the upcoming sequel, on Thursday we will be presented with in-game footage for the first time. Guardians from around the world are looking forward to this moment.
Bungie wouldn’t be Bungie if they didn’t announce this gameplay premiere multiple times. In the past weeks, they teased “Only 2 weeks left!” or “Only one week left!”, since last night they have been counting down the days. They released a short clip that is supposed to hype the gameplay reveal:
However, the video shows not only the start time of the premiere (May 18 at 7 PM) but also a Guardian (Warlock) in stylish gear – holding an unknown weapon!
SMGs in Destiny 2?
Many Guardians are sure: This is an SMG – that is, a “submachine gun”. Anyone who is unfamiliar with the term “SMG” but has, for example, watched the shooter The Division: SMGs are submachine guns. Rapid-firing, automatic weapons that are effective at short ranges.
And such a weapon class could be introduced in the MMO shooter Destiny 2. The community has been demanding SMGs for a long time – after all, the weapon selection can never be too large.
However, the SMGs are not confirmed 100% by this teaser video. It could also be a compact automatic rifle, for example. However, looking at this weapon from Destiny 2, which clearly differs from the compact weapon above and is held differently, the SMG as a new weapon class seems almost confirmed:
Moreover, we can assume that Destiny 2 will introduce new weapons and new weapon classes. After all, there should be “tons of new loot”. We are curious to see if we will see SMGs in action at the gameplay premiere.
