Destiny 2 has probably revealed its next new location. MeinMMO looks at what the now deleted trailer is all about.
Here’s what it’s about: On the night of June 2, the official Instagram account of Destiny 2 posted a short video. It featured a completely new location and a date (June 9, 2020). Additionally, the post announced that a reveal would take place on that day at 6:00 PM German time.
On that day, the current Season 10, the Season of the Worthy, ends, and at 7:00 PM, the starting signal for the yet untitled Season 11 will be given.
But shortly thereafter, the video was deleted again. Here you can still view the leak at the moment (June 2, 7:30 AM):
What you see in the video: The scenes of the approximately 15-second teaser trailer probably take place on the moon Europa. We see the cold surface, in the background, the impressive Jupiter towers with its characteristic banding. A lonely Eris Morn trudges through the deep snow and climbs frozen mountains. She withstands the increasing wind and then appears to come upon a kind of force field, as her outstretched hand begins to glow. After that, a date appears: June 9, 2020.
What it’s all about with Europa: The fact that we are getting the moon Europa as a location in Destiny has been circulating for some time. Even in the larger leaks of the past days, this topic kept coming up. It also fits that recently a cutscene announced the arrival of Darkness on Jupiter.
Originally, the icy region was even intended for Destiny 1, but was ultimately scrapped. A video from the early development of Destiny also shows concepts of the moon Europa:
What does the announcement mean? It is currently unclear whether the teaser shows Season 11 or perhaps already announces the autumn expansion – both are theoretically possible. But a completely new location in the form of Europa actually suggests a larger expansion rather than a season.
We assume that the info on the autumn DLC will come along with Season 11 to the Guardians. Because even in the cryptic TWaB from May 28, it was mentioned that great announcements would follow soon, and it is slowly time to beat the drum for the highlight of the year.
It is also suspected that we will finally learn more about the mysterious Deep Stone Crypt. This place has been a dream for the Exos, and for years, lore enthusiasts have been puzzling over the dark tower, which according to early concept ideas waits in a snowy location:
Story-wise, the holy place of the Exos fits well into the picture. We have only recently entered the tomb of Rasputin’s Exo-son Felwinter. If we recall, the story of the Awakened was told in the Forsaken expansion. That a new expansion finally gives a different race more color is quite conceivable.
