In Destiny 2, the Stasis classes ruin PvP for many players, but this should soon come to an end – at least the Hunters are in for it. What is the problem and how does the community react?
For that, a nerf is coming: Destiny developer Bungie has announced that they have a lot to do now that they are back from winter break. First, they want to discuss the Stasis Hunter, specifically the Shatterdive.
This is a Stasis aspect that allows Hunters to quickly dive down from the air and shatter all ice crystals and frozen objects in the vicinity.
What is the problem with the Hunter? Using Shatterdive in combination with other Stasis fragments and abilities allows for a lightning-fast attack that instantly eliminates everything nearby. More and more players are now using this combo, turning PvP into a nightmare.
- This attack is practically a version of the Fist of Chaos super,
- but it can be used almost permanently with the right setups.
- Oftentimes, the victims don’t even see the Hunters, who throw a Glacier Grenade from somewhere nearby and zoom in to shatter the ice wall – the flying crystals then take out entire teams.
What happens and when? How Bungie plans to address the problem is still unclear. The timing is also not clarified, via Twitter, the Destiny developer reported that more information will follow soon.
How is the community reacting to the announced nerf?
A large portion of the Guardians is actually cheering that Bungie is finally announcing a nerf here. Quite unusual, since usually the credo is: “Bungie nerfs and breaks everything with patches.”
- Under the Twitter post from dmg04, some Guardians are calling for the nerf to be implemented quickly. After all, when the Stasis Warlock wreaked havoc in PvP, there was also an immediate response.
- Even Hunter mains admit that the range of the shard explosion and the damage resistance during the jump itself are too high. They have to concede that the combo is currently too strong.
- Other users are already asking for the nerf for the Stasis Titan, which is also overdue.
When the exotic Hard Light terrorized PvP in March 2020, Guardians were probably last united in agreeing that something needed to be nerfed.
These concerns exist: Even the largest Destiny streamer Gladd has spoken out. He agrees that Shatterdive needs to be adjusted in PvP. However, his concern is about PvE.
He addresses the old Destiny problem and receives support. Often, due to one area of the game, an ability or weapon is nerfed to the ground and becomes unusable in both PvE and PvP.
That’s why there’s hope: With the adjustments to the Stasis Warlock, Bungie proved recently that they can separate PvP and PvE in their nerfs. Back then, the revision of the Shadebinder unfortunately overshot the mark.
However, in record time, Bungie gave the Warlock back part of its original power – thus a solid middle ground was found. We can only hope that they will do the same with the Stasis Hunter.
