Destiny 2 announces changes for the two most neglected modes

In August, a new chapter will be opened in the world of Destiny 2. A podcast has revealed that the upcoming seasons of the loot shooter will finally bring the neglected modes PvP and Gambit into focus. However, the excitement is somewhat tempered, as some players are skeptical.

This has rekindled hopes: Since the release of Destiny 2, Guardians have had a close connection to PvP and Gambit. But in recent months, the focus of the loot shooter seemed to be shifting away from these two game modes, while other aspects of the game took the spotlight.

The community has been vocal for years, demanding improvements and more attention for both PvP and Gambit.
Some even stated that Bungie has obviously sacrificed its love for these activities in favor of its new IP and that they might therefore let them die completely in Destiny 2.

But it doesn’t look like that. Just before the big showcase in August, Bungie has finally given the long-awaited signal that the two modes could still experience a glorious renaissance.

Gambit and PvP-focused content announced

Bungie shared in the interview: The teaser revealed in the “The Last Word” Podcast offered Guardians a glimpse of what will soon come to the game.

During the podcast, Travis Northup revealed that he was recently invited to a round of interviews with the developers of Destiny 2. He specifically inquired about the two neglected modes and asked whether Bungie is planning seasonal PvP or Gambit-oriented activities to revitalize these activities.

Currently, these modes do not contribute much to the seasons in Destiny 2 as far as seasonal activities are concerned. Participating in the playlists is essential to obtain the season title and master all weekly challenges. But that’s about it.

In response, Bungie stated the following:

We have nothing to announce today, but we will present a wealth of information about the seasonal model regarding Gambit and PvP-focused content at the Destiny 2 Showcase [on August 22].

Bungie has also confirmed that the upcoming seasons in Destiny 2 will adopt the same seasonal bonus upgrade system for the NPC vendors. Many Guardians hope this won’t be the only change for the upcoming seasons.

This is why the community is skeptical: For many players, new maps, exciting game modes, and possibly an overhauled reward system would already be a first step to elevate the experience in PvP and Gambit to a new level. Ideally even more.

However, the deep disappointment over the neglect of these modes in recent years has also led to significant skepticism among the Guardians. Some no longer believe that the changes will be anything interesting, like Guardian ArcticBear.

Here we go again. Bungie is once again misleading us and making us believe that PvP will receive an astounding “new focus” to keep engaged PvP players interested and waiting. But it won’t happen, at most there will be a revamped thing that will again be neglected for years.

When are the changes coming to the game? The small teaser made it clear that Bungie will do something in the last two Lightfall seasons. Until then, they will keep quiet and reveal more details during the big showcase on August 22 at 7:00 PM.

It will be up to Bungie to meet expectations in order to shed more light on PvP and Gambit. If the developer takes this chance, the upcoming seasons of Destiny 2 might hold a better time for the Guardians in these playlists.
