When the new raid “Scourge of the Past” went live in Destiny 2 on December 7, it took less than two hours to determine the winner of the World-First race. However, the victory is controversially discussed by some fans. What happened?
Who claimed the World First title? In just under an hour and 50 minutes, the race for the World-First title in the new raid “Scourge of the Past” was already over. And this time it wasn’t the Redeem clan that claimed the title for themselves.

A team from the Tier 1 clan around the exceptional player Gigz grabbed the coveted World-First belt yesterday. Shortly thereafter, this triumph was confirmed by Bungie on Twitter. Numerous Bungie employees, fans, and Destiny celebrities congratulated the delighted winners.
Was the victory legitimate? However, around the victory of the Tier 1 clan, a controversy has also broken out. Some fans wondered if everything was above board. The trigger for the discussions was the revival in the raid.
Some viewers noticed during the stream that some team members of the Tier 1 clan apparently had more revival tokens available than usual and were therefore able to revive their fallen comrades more often.

Normally, each team member has one token, so they can only bring back one dead comrade. During encounters, some players in Tier 1 were able to revive their buddies more than once.
This is what Tier 1 says: The discussion was further fueled when some members of Tier 1 stated that the tokens would recharge after each boss phase. Therefore, players could revive their comrades multiple times during the boss fight.
However, other teams contested this argument and replied that the tokens do not regenerate during these phases. They had never done so before.
What does Bungie say? So far, the studio hasn’t addressed this issue. However, as many other fans have now reported, other teams, including the Redeem clan, were also affected by this phenomenon. It is likely a bug. Some users even noted that they experienced this phenomenon in the Forsaken raid “Last Wish”.

Does Tier 1 now have to fear for the title? Probably not. Because whatever the reason for this phenomenon, Tier 1 cannot be blamed for cheating or intentionally exploiting it to gain an advantage – nothing of the sort was apparent at any time during the stream.
If it is indeed a bug, it would be something that could be criticized to Bungie, but not to the Tier 1 clan. Whether they had a decisive advantage or not is another matter. Since, as is well known, other participants in the race were also plagued by it, it is likely that Tier 1’s victory will not change.

Fans are still discussing this: There have also been some heated discussions around the new raid itself. Although Bungie announced in advance that this raid would be smaller than the Last Wish from Forsaken – no one was expecting an 18-hour marathon.
However, the fact that Scourge of the Past was mastered in less than two hours is bitter for some fans. Many had hoped for more.
What do you think? How should one handle it when bugs interfere in World-First races? And what do you think of the raid itself? Too long, too short, or just right?
