Players of Destiny 2 notice that they have long overlooked an Exotic that can stand up to the known boss killers and is ideal for raid beginners.
This is the exotic insider tip: Linear fusion rifles are not particularly popular among the majority of Guardians, and the exotic examples are gathering dust in the vault. But did you know that the Exotic Queenbreaker can compete with the big boss killers like the Whisper of the Worm?
Anyone reading this with surprise reacts just like reddit user LiberalDestroyed. At first, he was skeptical, but his data proves that the two ranged weapons deliver a close contest, and Queenbreaker has significant advantages that many have overlooked for a long time.
Exotic Duel: Whisper of the Worm vs. Queenbreaker
Why compare with the Whisper? For a long time, sniper rifles, especially Izanagi’s Burden and the Whisper, were the pinnacle in endgame activities like raids. From a safe distance, even the strongest bosses could be brought to their knees.
A nerf weakened the most powerful snipers and created a kind of power vacuum – from which, for example, Xenophage emerged. But the Whisper is still one of the most popular and best weapons used in boss fights. Every other ranged weapon must therefore contend with this sniper rifle.
Here’s how both exotics perform in the test: The Whisper theoretically does not need to reload and has (with the exotic catalyst) a permanent damage buff. Each shot deals about 550,000 damage, which corresponds to approximately 23,000 DPS.
Queenbreaker achieves a maximum damage of 515,000, with about 17,500 DPS. No perk takes care of reloading for you or increases the damage. The last buff for linear fusion rifles was in December 2019 – quite a while ago.
How strong is the Whisper really? The dominance of the Whisper mainly exists on paper – the values are only theoretical and ideally so high.
Even a miss with the Whisper is fatal, and the numbers no longer add up:
- Your hit streak is over – you will have to reload yourself painstakingly
- You must activate the buff “Whisper Breath” again – which takes almost 2 seconds during which no shots are fired or anything else happens
- Therefore, the DPS value collapses
And let’s be honest, with a wriggling raid boss, 5 teammates shouting commands, and the desire to take down the enemy in a phase, pressure builds, and we miss our shots.
The feel-good weapon is ideal for raid beginners
That’s why Queenbreaker is so strong now: In contrast, you can hardly miss with Queenbreaker thanks to its absurdly high aim-assist. For this reason, aim assistance has been adjusted repeatedly – sometimes Bungie made it even higher, then lowered it a bit, only to raise it again.
However, even with missed shots, this hardly affects the DPS value or maximum damage. And especially in raid phases where the Guardians have to switch platforms or sides, the weapon is advantageous since it is almost immediately ready to fire due to “Fixer Pull”.
Queenbreaker therefore falls in the same category as Xenophage; both are relaxed DPS weapons that take a large part of the load off the Guardians’ shoulders.
Did you have this insider tip for all ranged fights on your radar? Queenbreaker is ideal for anyone who has not participated in raids often yet and is a good alternative for all bosses you cannot handle with the powerful swords of Season 11.
