We at My-MMO wanted to know from you: What are you playing instead of Destiny 2 on PS4 and Xbox One to quench your thirst? And the majority is actually playing Monster Hunter World, a non-shooter.
We asked a week ago: Which game do you use to satisfy your Destiny hunger?
In 170 comments, there was busy and also controversial discussion. Especially the question of what role Destiny 2 plays in the success of other games on PS4 and Xbox One heated the debates.
In any case, it was one of the most successful surveys in the history of our site: More than 3,300 of you voted. We provided you with 16 options.

One in Five plays Monster Hunter World instead of Destiny 2
The winner of the survey is “Monster Hunter World”, a non-shooter but a lifestyle game that you can sink hours into.
With 20%, one in five participants in the survey satisfies their thirst with Capcom’s game.
This also aligns with what we observe on the site. The articles about Monster Hunter World are reaching peak values on our site.

One in Nine sticks with Destiny 2
With 11% of the votes, Destiny 2 itself ranks in second place. This is quite intense, given that 89% of players are doing something else to get the kick that Destiny once gave them, but with 11% it is still the second place in the survey.
By the way, only 4% of the people who participated in the survey have returned to Destiny 1. However, we have started a specific survey on “Are you playing Destiny 1 again?“, where the numbers look different.
Fortnite and The Division as good alternatives
- With 8% each, players say they satisfy their Destiny hunger with The Division or Fortnite. The two very different games are equally favored by readers.
This makes both games from the presented alternatives by far the most attractive after Monster Hunter World.
- Warframe was only able to gather 4% of the votes.

MMORPGs are apparently not in demand: TERA with 2% and The Elder Scrolls Online with 1% satisfy only a few people’s loot hunger.
Even the classic current shooters like Overwatch (2%) or Battlefield 1 (1%) are only considered by a few players. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds excites only 1% of readers as a Destiny alternative, but PUBG isn’t available on PS4 yet.
However, 8% state that they are spending their time on another online game.

Many are waiting for the next hits
A good portion of the readers seems to be currently waiting for the next Destiny competitor:
- 8% say: “I am waiting for Anthem.”
- 7% are waiting for the yet-to-be-announced Borderlands 3.
Some are also playing less, or offline again
7% of the people who participated in the survey have now turned to a single-player game to satisfy their Destiny hunger.
And 8% say: “I am satisfying my Destiny hunger with nothing. I am just playing less than before.”
