Currently in Destiny 2, players are having a blast with oversized fireteams due to a glitch. Bungie has noticed this but is letting the Guardians enjoy the “problem” for a while longer.
This bug is fun: In Destiny 2, Guardians recently found a way to significantly increase the maximum player limit. Instead of the usual raid outings with 6 players, they now roam with up to 12.
We reported about it on MeinMMO: Glitch makes Destiny 2 even more of an MMO – allows raids with 12 players.
This also works in other activities and players are celebrating the chaos. However, since a community manager from Bungie has also noticed the “problem”, players are already saying goodbye to the large fireteams.
Bungie encourages you to glitch and have fun
Here’s what Bungie surprises with: In their weekly blog post, the Destiny developers address the glitch. They acknowledge the hype around it and are glad that players are having so much fun with it.
Then they encourage the Guardians to let loose a bit more:
We are not rushing to fix it, and it’s totally okay if you want to try it out and have a little fun.

- However, it is also noted that raids, for example, are not designed for such large player numbers, and you shouldn’t be surprised about any potential bugs. Bungie humorously phrases it as: “Just keep in mind that we did not create these activities with the expectation that a clown car full of Guardians would show up, so odd things might happen.”
- Bungie emphasizes that you shouldn’t expect any penalties for trying out such glitches – i.e., errors in the game itself. Unlike other developers, which Guardians have already interpreted as a nasty dig at Division: Players believe Destiny 2 is slyly taking shots at Division 2 and its harsh bans.
When will the “problem” be fixed? A fix is already in the works, so you don’t have much time left. When the Nightfall of Season 13 starts on March 16, the fun should be over.
This is what the Deep Stone Crypt raid looks like with 12 Guardians:
This is how the community reacts
This is how Guardians are excited: Normally, players of Destiny 2 believe that Bungie patches bugs in their favor immediately. For example, when one can gain too much experience or acquire items from the cash shop, the Eververse, faster than intended. However, bugs that plague Guardians always end up far down the priority list, and one has to wait months for fixes.
- Here, they show delight that Bungie is participating in the fun and are visibly positively surprised.
- Regarding the desire for player numbers in activities to generally increase, community manager Cozmo responds that they cannot promise anything, but they take the feedback to heart (via reddit).
- Others demand a clown car emblem to remember the wild time (via reddit). Just like during the chaos with the Prometheus Lens or the “Lord of Wolves” era.
What about other issues? On March 1, Bungie had to suspend the Trials of Osiris. They have now announced that the PvP mode must remain disabled until further notice as they look for a solution. The official reason is not given by the Destiny developer, but players suspect rampant win trading.

Have you already formed an extra-large team and celebrated the chaos in raids or the Nightfall? Do you wish for more players in activities in general, or are you struggling to fill your current fireteam?
