Season 14, the Season of the Splicer, for Destiny 2 has begun and traditionally there are new exotic weapons and armor pieces for players to chase after. MeinMMO shows you which new exotics are already known and how you can get them.
Season 14 is here: It’s that time again. With the new Update 3.2.0 and the Weekly Reset on May 11, Season 14 has started in Destiny 2.
The new season focuses on the fight against the Vex. The nasty machines have managed to trap the Last City on Earth in a simulation where eternal darkness prevails. Now it’s up to the Guardians to hack the Vex network and retrieve humanity’s last refuge from the darkness.
To make it a bit easier, the Guardians traditionally receive fresh toys – including new exotics. Below you will find out which new weapon and armor exotics await you in the Season of the Splicer.
Here are the new exotic weapons from Season 14
At the beginning of the new season, 5 new exotics are known so far that will enhance the Guardians’ arsenal – 2 of these are new weapons.
Kryosthesie 77K – Hand Cannon
What does this weapon exotic do? The hand cannon is used in the Kinetic slot and consumes primary ammunition. Alongside the exotic grenade launcher Clutch of the Redeemer, it is so far the 2nd weapon to utilize the Stasis element.
The exotic perk is called Variable Trigger: Pressing and releasing the fire button fires single shots. If you hold the fire button while the perk Liquid Cooling is activated, a Charged Shot is fired.
The 2nd perk Liquid Cooling means that precision final blows with this weapon enable a Charged Shot for a short time. Targets hit by this special shot will be immediately frozen at the cost of the entire magazine.
How to get this weapon? It’s quite straightforward: This exotic comes through the new Season Pass for Season 14.
- For buyers of the Season Pass, it is available right at level 1
- For all other players, it then becomes available for free at level 35 of the Season Pass
This is what the exotic masterwork catalyst does: As a masterwork variant, the weapon gains a new perk: Cold Efficiency. When you shatter a frozen target, the weapon’s magazine is refilled from reserves.
Vex Mythoclast – Fusion Rifle
What does this weapon exotic do? This is an iconic returner from Destiny 1. It is a Solar Fusion Rifle for the Energy slot, but according to the database it uses primary ammunition.
The exotic perk is called Timeless Mythoclast and means that with every pull of the trigger, a single projectile is fired.
The second special perk is called Temporal Conflux. Defeating targets generates overload stacks.
The overload is important for the alternative weapon function. At full overload, you can switch between firing modes. In the alternative firing mode, you must hold the trigger to charge and fire stronger, linear fusion projectiles.
How to get this weapon? This weapon is available in the returned raid “The Glass Vault” – likely as a random drop from the end boss.
This is what the exotic masterwork catalyst does: As a masterwork variant, the weapon gains a new perk: Calculated Balance. Larger overload stacks increase the weapon’s stability.
Here are the new exotic armor pieces from Season 14
Alongside the 2 new weapon exotics, 3 fresh armor exotics will also be added in Season 14.
How to get the new exotic armor pieces: All 3 new armor exotics are available as random drops from bosses of the corresponding lost sectors on Legend and Grandmaster difficulty. However, you must master these activities solo.
Path of the Burning Steps – Titan Leg Armor
What does this armor exotic do? This exotic can essentially be used by all Titans. The exotic perk is called Firewalker and means that solar final blows regularly grant an increasing bonus to weapon damage.
As the wearer, you are harder to slow down or freeze with Stasis, and when you break out (of Stasis freeze), you take no damage and generate a solar energy burst around you.
Star Eater Scales – Hunter Leg Armor
What does this armor exotic do? The new leg armor is aimed at all Hunter subclasses. Through the exotic perk Feast of Light, the wearer receives additional super energy when picking up Orbs of Power. When their super energy is full and they pick up an Orb of Power, their super energy becomes overcharged.
The wearer then receives a healing boost upon activation, as well as a bonus to their super damage. At maximum overload, a shield is also granted.
Boots of the Inventor – Warlock Leg Armor
What does this armor exotic do? The Warlock leg armor can also be universally used by all subclasses. The exotic perk is called Blessing of Order and does the following: When you stand in a Healing Rift, you create Nobles Seekers that seek out your allies who are not in the Rift and heal them.
When you stand in a Empowering Rift, Nobles Seekers are created that grant both you and your ally a damage bonus. If a Noble Seeker finds one of your allies, the duration of your Rift is briefly extended while you stand in it. Reminiscent of the weapon exotic Lumina.
Is there more to come?
As far as exotic armors are concerned, this should be everything according to experiences from previous seasons. While there are currently no concrete hints for exotic weapons, it is historically likely and even probable that during the season a new secret exotic quest will follow, at the end of which another new weapon exotic awaits the Guardians. There is currently no official information about this.
What do you think of the new exotics of Season 14? Is there a must-have for you? Or do all the currently known new exotics leave you completely cold? Let us know and other readers of MeinMMO in the comments.
