With the start of Season 9, new exotic armor pieces came to Destiny 2. We take a look at the new Exotics and tell you what they can do and how to obtain them.
In the past, players could often get a glimpse of the new Exotics before the release of new content in Destiny 2, but this time it was not the case – at least not for the armors.
Only after the start of Season 9, the Season of Dawn, are there now details on the new armored Exotics that came with the Update 2.7.0. Let’s take a closer look at them now.
These 3 new exotic armor pieces come with Season 9
What does Season 9 bring? Overall, the Season of Dawn brings 3 new armor Exotics – one for each Guardian class. The Hunter and the Warlock each receive a new leg armor. The Titan gets a fresh chest armor.
How to get the new armor Exotics from Season 9: All three new exotic armor pieces are regular drops. So you don’t have to do anything special to get them, just hope for some loot luck. They are available from all sources from which you can obtain Exotics.
The Cannonshooter – exotic Hunter leg armor
What can this new Exotic do? The exotic perk of these new Hunter pants is Farewell Gift. When you dodge with the Hunter, it leaves behind a explosive device (a small orb) that detonates after a short delay and deals damage to nearby enemies.
What is this new Exotic suitable for? In PvE, there are likely better alternatives for all Hunter classes. However, in PvP, this new Exotic opens up all sorts of fun possibilities to frustrate your enemies.
Anyone who prefers an aggressive playstyle or finds themselves facing corresponding opponents can certainly shake things up in the Crucible with the Cannonshooter – even if this armor Exotic is only situationally effective.
The Cannonshooter is not specifically aimed at a particular focus. However, especially for the top tree of the Arcstrider (Way of the Warrior) as well as for the Nightstalker Hunter with its invisibility, this leg armor is a good addition when you mix up the opponent’s ranks, as this video from Destiny Fun Police shows:
Fragmented Pen – exotic Titan chest armor
What can this new Exotic do? This chest armor comes with the perk Spherical Trigger. If the wearer defeats a Guardian with a melee attack or an enemy with a finisher, an explosion occurs that deals damage to enemies.
What is this new Exotic suitable for? This chest armor goes in a similar direction as the new Hunter Exotic and revolves around explosions.
While it is not specifically tailored to a focus and can thus be used by any Titan build, the strongest synergies for this Exotic are formed with the Striker Titan – specifically with the Juggernaut.
However, this new Exotic is also very situational, meaning it can only be used effectively in certain situations, although it can make a stronger impact in PvP – especially against groups of enemies. However, it is not a must-have.

Promethium Trace – exotic Warlock leg armor
What can this new Exotic do? Here, the exotic perk is Light’s Ember. If you defeat enemies or Guardians while the Dawnblade super is active, you create a healing and empowering Rift at their location.
What is this new Exotic suitable for? This Exotic is specifically aimed at Dawnblade Warlocks.
While this Exotic is also very situational, it can shine in both PvE and PvP in certain moments. In fights against computer enemies, for example, the Rifts can be useful during boss fights or when facing large groups of enemies.
In PvP, the Rifts can help to quickly capture and then hold a zone. The Rifts are also stackable – so a healing and empowering Rift with double effect is created.

What do you think of the 3 new Exotics? Which one do you like the most? Will you make more use of one of them now? Or do they not surpass the existing favorites? By the way, these are the new exotic weapons from Season 9:
