Destiny 2 has also introduced an armor exotic for each class with the new Season 17. Some not only provide exotic benefits but also have the important Champion mods sewn in. MeinMMO tells you which new armor exotics the Season of the Haunted offers and which class already benefits from them twice.
In total, the “Season of the Haunted” brought 3 new exotic armor pieces (one for each class) and, so far, 2 new weapon exotics (the Exo Pistol “Trespasser” and the Dungeon Exo “Heartshadow”) along with a catalyst into the game.
The cool thing about the new armor exotics: For some, it’s definitely worth grinding for them.
- Bungie has already started integrating important Champion mods directly into the properties of exotic armors since Beyond Light.
- This not only saves you a mod slot but is now one of the most practical options against the annoying champions, as 2 more exotics have since been added.

The new armor exotics from Season 17 at a glance
Hunter: “Caliban’s Hand” – Exotic Gauntlets
What’s better than proximity grenades? Of course, proximity explosive knives. With this new armor exotic “Caliban’s Hand” (German: “Calibans Hand”) hunters can now not only stab their enemies but also roast them in a particularly nasty way.
What can this armor exotic do?
- Roast them: The proximity explosive knife scorches targets that take damage from its explosions or sets them ablaze on a direct hit. After throwing a proximity explosive knife, players receive increased melee regeneration until the knife explodes.
Warlock: “Rain of Fire” – Exotic Leg Armor
Your Warlock likes to use fusion or linear fusion rifles? Then treat him to the new leg exotic “Rain of Fire” (German: “Rain of Fire”). With this, you can triumph over your enemies in the air as a Solar Warlock.
What can this armor exotic do?
- Flying Fusilier: With this armor exotic, you can perform aerial dodges while reloading all weapons. The effectiveness of fusion and linear fusion rifles in the air is also improved. Thanks to this exotic, kills with these weapons grant Radiant, allowing you to deal more damage.
This combination is particularly strong: Some players already see this armor exotic as the best addition for Solar 3.0. Especially the combination of the Raid exo Vex Mythoclast, including its catalyst, Light mods, and the new damage boost “Radiant” is definitely capable of making a difference.
Titan: “Second Chance” – Exotic Gauntlets
Finally, shoulders worthy of a true Titan? Then grab this exotic with stylish satellite dishes. It is meant for Void Titans who like to throw shields and use a “Second Chance” (German: “Second Chance”). Additionally, with this armor exotic, you have the anti-barrier mod built in.
What can this armor exotic do?
- Myrmidon Reach: You gain a second charge of the shield throw melee attack, which becomes shield-breaking and can stun anti-barrier champions.
All classes can utilize a built-in champion advantage
So far, there are already a total of three armor exotics in Destiny 2 that come with built-in champion mods.
In addition to “Second Chance” of the Titans, Bungie added the Warlocks with “Secant Filaments” a similarly symbiotic exo at the start of Witch Queen. This armor exotic automatically grants the Warlock’s weapons overcharged rounds when you are in a strengthening rift.
And for the Hunters, “Athrys’s Embrace” is available. With this, your Guardian can skillfully stop Unstoppable Champions with the “Balanced Knife”.
Whether more exotic armor pieces will be introduced during Season 17 is still uncertain. However, if Bungie pulls a surprise out of the hat, we will update this article for you.
Important to know: This feature of the armor exotics does not override the intrinsic perk of weapons. This is to avoid conflicts with seasonal champion mods.
How to get the new armor exotics: Unlike at the start of Witch Queen, where there was an exotic choice upon campaign completion, you only receive the exotics presented here as random drops from Lost Sectors. You must play them on the Master or Grandmaster difficulty and complete this activity solo.
