In Destiny 2 all 3 new Stasis classes for our Guardians have now been introduced. And after 6 years as a proud Hunter main, I will probably finally cheat and start the new expansion Beyond Light with a different character. How about you?
These are the 3 new Stasis classes: From November 10th, with the new expansion Beyond Light, a new element – Stasis – is introduced for the first time in the history of Destiny.
As part of this, the 3 Guardian classes will also receive new Stasis focuses with corresponding icy abilities and Supers.
Many – including me, Sven Galitzki, shooter and Destiny expert at MeinMMO – are even more curious about Stasis after the reveal. Because with these new powers, Destiny 2: Beyond Light completely changes the way your subclasses function. You finally get additional freedom in character customization.
It is the first new element ever in the history of the Destiny franchise and derives its power, unlike the previous elements Arc, Solar, and Void, from Darkness rather than Light.
By the way, in addition to our Guardians, 3 enemy races may also receive the new Stasis powers.
What makes Stasis even more exciting: For another reason, Stasis will be exciting for many a Guardian. Because now you are presented with the rather exciting choice of which character to start the new expansion with.
Some Guardians have played a specific class for years and remain loyal to it. The class choice in Destiny has almost a religious character, so it is kind of a matter of faith that can quickly escalate from friendly and factual conversations into fierce arguments.
But given the new, admittedly really cool Stasis focuses, the foundation of faith for many a Guardian and proud representative of their class might now be shaken to its core – just like with me.
I will go from the agile Hunter…
That has been my main for 6 years: Since the beta of Destiny 1, I have been a proud Hunter main.
No other class looks as cool (except maybe Titan Lord Saladin with his cape), none moves as nimbly and elegantly, and none currently masters crowd control as well as the Nightstalker Hunter with his Shadowshot. And no matter what you say or think – you know I am 100% right, there’s no need to discuss it.
I can hardly believe that I am saying this now (Cayde, forgive me), but with Stasis that will change for me – at least at first. For the first time since I started playing Destiny, I am seriously considering switching primarily to a different class and starting the new expansion with it.
This is the class I will start with Beyond Light: When I saw the new Warlock in the Stasis trailers, not only did a chill run down my spine, but my mouth almost watered. It seems that I have actually fallen in love with Destiny anew after 6 years.
Whether it is really love will still have to be seen, but at the moment it at least feels like it. Like in the song by Bausa: “Oh Warlock, give me more of what you call love.
Even if it is not love, I love it. Help me forget what was.
I park my heart with you tonight.”
But joking aside, I have never been this excited about a new class as I am about the Shadebinder Warlock. Not even with all the new focuses from Forsaken.
… to the icy Warlock in Beyond Light
Why the Shadebinder? But how did this sacrilege come about? Well, I am all about crowd control – that is exactly the role I prefer to take on in relevant games.
Previously, the Hunter with his Void arrow super filled that role best, but with Stasis another class is now coming into focus – the Shadebinder Warlock. With his icy powers, he takes crowd control to a whole new level in my opinion, and that’s exactly what I’m extremely looking forward to.
No other class can currently freeze entire groups of enemies so easily, shatter them into a thousand pieces, turn them into icy bombs, and generally control them as effectively as the new Warlock. Moreover, it looks damn stylish when done by a Warlock.
The new Revenant Hunter is very close in terms of cool factor, but this time the playstyle of the Warlock actually appeals to me more for the first time – even if I will definitely play the cool ice ninja until I drop. And Titans? Who are Titans? They can only do one thing with Stasis – hit. And that is not my style (but I still like you).
By the way, even though some are already worried about PvP because of Stasis – I think with the motto: wait and see. Before I label the new Stasis powers as OP and condemn the Revenant Hunter as an unstoppable crucible monster, I want to first see how all the abilities play out in practice. And then I will judge how strong they actually are in PvP. Then I can still blame everything on the constantly whining Titans.
What about you? But how do you see it? Do you remain loyal to your class? Despite or precisely because of Stasis? Or are you also considering switching to a different Guardian class at the start of Beyond Light?
