That Destiny 2 will receive a proper transmog system was already known – but not when it will come. Now Bungie has provided a specific timeframe and shown some first images.
Where does the information come from? In a new developer update, Bungie spoke about some plans and features for the future of Destiny 2. In this context, the studio also revealed fresh details about transmog – a feature that many Guardians have been waiting for a long time.
New information about transmog in Destiny 2
This is what Bungie has now announced: That a transmog system will be introduced sometime after Beyond Light was already known. However, Bungie has now been more specific. The studio announced that transmog will make its way into the game with Season 14.
When does Season 14 run? Currently, Season 12, the Season of the Hunt, is in full swing. This will run until the end of February 2021. Accordingly, Season 13 is expected to start in spring and Season 14 in summer 2021. In short: Players will likely have to wait almost half a year. However, there are no precise details on the start dates of the subsequent seasons.
However, it is also possible that some seasons in Year 4 could be a bit shorter, as Season 11 was extended to 5 months due to Corona. This caused Season 12 and the new expansion Beyond Light to release later than planned, which could have disrupted the original seasonal schedule for Year 4. It is therefore quite conceivable that Bungie might design the subsequent seasons to be somewhat shorter.
What is the deal with transmog anyway? Transmogrification, or simply transmog, essentially refers to a cosmetic system that allows you to visually change armor and clothing without losing their stats or attributes.
This way, the look of certain already earned items can be applied to other pieces of equipment of the same type – for example, if the new armor is stronger or has a higher level but visually does not appeal to you.
In short: With transmog, players no longer have to compromise between looking good and being effective. They can then walk around as they please without sacrificing the power of new items.
In Destiny 2, transmog is one of the biggest wishes of many Guardians and should allow players to transform all already earned armor pieces into universal ornaments. It is enough if you have found the item once and it is in your collection. You do not have to save it in your inventory or vault for that.
Their look can then be applied to other items and change their appearance. The target object then receives the look of the item from which the ornament was created.

The whole visual customization system of your character is summarized there under “Appearance Management” and includes an overview of gear, the shaders used, and the applied ornaments.
